You can’t go wrong—try everything and anything. We got a sunflower seed and olive loaf, kouign amann, plain croissant, and a baguette sandwich. Everything was delicious! I’ve never had a kouign amann so light—they’re usually a denser pastry. This was pleasant to eat and left space to eat a lot more ? I wish this bakery was closer to me, I’d be there every day. My husband likes to make bread and was blown away by the quality of the loaf and pastries!
Beautiful place, extremely popular for good reason. They're fancy without feeling "precious" or ... possibly vice versa. They sell a curated selection of pricey grocery items that are unusual, beautiful packaged yet are ones one would actually use, truly specially items. Their takeout is affordable and really really delicious. The Tomato Pie is the definition of comfort food, the coffees are all delicious and that Rye Chocolate Chip Cookie! The staff is likewise...
There are a few amazing pastry/bakery shops in NYC, there is one good one in Lenox, MA and there is Mel's about midway between the two and better than both. We ordered 3 pastries, all three were perfect with the right amount of filling, texture and flavor unlike places in the Albany, NY area (and beyond). This place is a destination! This is the BEST bakery I have been to in years.
