Good food at a fair price. Service was though. Heard it was closing.

Very disappointed since reading largely positive reviews. We were there on a Wednesday nite around 7pm.No one eating inside restaurant, only a total of 3 outside tables(including us) occupied. Menu on board was not serving the seared trout stuffed with dates & gorgonzola, which I what I wanted. I had fish &chips because other fish offerings were very overpriced considering the lack of atmosphere and fair service.one friend had seared tuna which was good, nice portion size.when we sat down we were asked what we wanted to drink(water)only to be served 3 bottles of water for which we were charged. Considering all the high end restaurants in Hudson, this place was overpriced.would not recommend

Second time at Red Barn. The first was quite satisfying and was worth the 4 1/2 star review. Today? Not so much. Ordered a fried oyster po' boy. While the food was very tasty, two fried oysters on a split top potato hot dog roll did not warrant the price. If the food wasn't tasty I would have lowered the review. I will try Red Barn again but I won't even consider the po' boy.

Stopped in for some seafood and was quite impressed by the variety on the menu. Had soft shell crab and calamari lemonade delicious. I believe the property has been bought and will be turned into a cigar store and Italian deli. But is going through some legal stuff.

Don't be deceived by its outward appearance, the food here is incredible! Ignore the decor (or lack thereof) and enjoy the excellent seafood menu. We were going to have oyster poor-boys but were advised by the beautiful staff that the oysters they had on hand were too small to deep fry and would be better enjoyed raw on the half shell. So glad we took their advice!. The oysters were small, firm, briny and sweet. Can't remember the name of them but they were from the East coast of Canada. We split a wedge salad as well. It was a huge wedge of iceberg lettuce that made us wonder why iceberg lettuce ever went out of style. I'm so tired of mesclun, spinach and lately kale salads. This wedge was cold and crisp, yet green and sweet. It was topped with something delicious like a blue cheese thousand island dressing, with bacon and scallions. This place also has a very lively fish market for fresh fish and shellfish.

The Seafood platter looked great but calamari was chewy, shrimp was hard, fish was ok scallops were good. They have a board outside to order from but don't know how much till you get the check.

So we've enjoyed GF fish & chips here several times (such a blessing to have the GF option for fish and chips!)plus had the chowder and other scrumptious seafood stew & seafood salad in the past.

Casual place for lunch or an early dinner. Awesome wedge salad. Wonderful hot, buttery lobster roll and rustic fries. Huge and tasty lemonade and iced tea. Indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly and helpful service. Menu is a bit overwhelming and needs to be organized better.

The pictures look nice but, its actually not pleasant inside the floors were sticky and the table was dirty :( We waited 2 and a half hours for our food. People who got there after use ate and left before we even got our appetizers!!! After a while we were too hungry to wait any longer and asked to cancel the order and the cook comes out of the kitchen with no mask or gloves on, with a nasty raw piece of meat in her hand giving use an attitude and says, "I will like literally be done in 2 seconds and it's burning while we speak" since it was just about done we sat down and decided to wait the "2 seconds" just to find out that our food is cold and my crab cakes were mushy. (good mash potatoes and lovely waitress but I DO NOT RECOMMEND)

A hidden gem in Hudson, with a daily menu on a whiteboard outside. I had a perfectly broiled halibut, clearly fresh as the chef was processing the whole fish as we walked in. This came with nap and smashed potatoes, all in generous portions, and a spicy butter blanc. Companion had the fried chicken bites, a mountain of chicken pieces on a big plate with crispy French fries. Chef even gave an extra portion of non-spicy beurre blanc so that my non-spicy friend could share.

On Mother’s Day, we had a party of 7 and arrived at the restaurant at 3:40 pm but weren't served until 6:10 pm. The weed-covered parking lot and puddles were an eyesore, prompting us to want to leave. We looked at the menu that was posted outside and decided to take a chance. Walking in, we felt the sticky floor, and we decided to stay because the waitress was a sweetheart. The décor was unfinished, and their preparations for Mother's Day were sad. The room had a temporary deck string of lights for lighting, and the flowers at the table were dry and dying. Our table was dirty, and we wiped it down ourselves. After ordering our food, we noticed that the nice waitress was the only wait staff on duty! We waited as the restaurant filled up, and two of us had to leave because, by 5:20, we still had not been served. As we waited, we saw new guests get served their food before us. We were starving by six pm. We approached the waitress and kindly asked for a refund and told her that we would have to leave. She spoke with the chef and explained that we had a very long wait and planned to leave. The kitchen staff informed our waitress that the food (fried, mind you) was just about ready. After waiting an additional ten minutes, we again approached the waitress about canceling the order, and one of three cooks came out of the kitchen area to talk with us. She explained that it was Mother's Day, and it was very busy and that she was "literally burning the food by coming out to talk" to us, implying that we were wasting her time. We explained that other guests came in after us. They had been served before us and had already left the restaurant. After the additional two-minute wait, the food finally arrived at approximately 6:10. The food was flavorful but lukewarm at best. For food that was supposedly cooking during our conversation, I expected a hot meal. My daughter felt that her crab cakes were mushy. Aside from that, the mashed potatoes were very good but would have been better served hot.We would not recommend the restaurant because the sticky floors speak volumes, and the unisex restroom was unsanitary, and the lukewarm food. The establishment appeared to lack a barn door, and it made for a drafty and uncomfortable dining experience. The restaurant lacks investment, staff, and a good manager. Maybe they will take a page out of the Jackson's in Old Chatham book.
