I have had back to back 5 star experiences at The Maker. The service impeccable yet incredibly kind and cheerful. The food is off the hook. The octopus ? was transcendent. The eggplant terrine perfection. I’ve had the pleasure of tasting 5 different pasta dishes all of them delicious and not just the sauces the homemade pasta was light and succulent. Truly I love this place.

While service was good last Saturday night we were first greeted with “you must be finished by 8 pm”. It was 5:30 when we arrived. (Plenty of time if servers are prompt). We drove through horrendous weather to get to the Maker on time and we’re greeted in this manner ? Poor taste and rude. My food was so salty it was not enjoyable. I won’t be back I know of many better venues with outstanding food quality and management with class

I feel compelled to post a review of the Maker restaurant and the service my family and I received last night. I made a reservation for my wife’s birthday for 7 people at 6pm. We have been to this restaurant several times and had always had very good experiences. At the end of the night last night, my wife and I were embarrassed! We arrived early, as we wanted to have a drink before dinner in the lounge. Upon arriving to the restaurant we were met by who I believe was the restaurant manager. We gave him our name and advised of our reservation for 6pm, it was 5:30 at this time. We were immediately told that he was happy we came early and that we should be seated right away as they needed the table back by 8 pm. We were not greeted or welcomed in - we felt rushed from the moment we walked through the door. This man told 3 different people in our party that we needed to be out by 8pm. His tone of voice, demeanor and delivery was rude. Some other things to note which missed the mark:I ordered a glass of wine (Pinot noir) and noticed that it smelled strange and tasted of vinegar. It had obviously gone bad and I advised the waitress, who brought a new bottle to the table and poured me a fresh glass. Two of the meals at the table were overly salted to the point that it was not enjoyable. We called ahead to see if we could bring a cake for my wife’s birthday and we advised of a $30 serving fee. I nearly choked. I asked the manager if it would be possible to waive that fee and he told me he would see what he could do but that those fees are customary. In actuality we were charged $35.The dinner servers were pleasant, they did a great job.We waited 15 minutes for our jackets to be located in the coat check - we couldn’t get out of there fast enough. We spent nearly $1,000 last night and overall our experience was awful. The evening was ruined from the beginning by the manger and his lack of professionalism. I grew up the hospitality I industry and my parents ran a successful resort - we were all appalled at how we were treated and have no intention of returning.

This review is based entirely on the first 2 minutes of our time spent at the maker. My husband made a reservation to bring our families here to celebrate my birthday. We drove an hour and a half during a snowstorm and arrived 30 minutes prior to our 6pm reservation time. As we stepped into the restaurant, we were approached by a man who said it's a good thing we arrived early because we can be seated right away. We told him our reservation wasn't until 6 and that we wanted to have a drink in the lounge first. He replied that the lounge was only for hotel guests which is entirely untrue as I have been to the lounge several times and have never stayed as a guest at the hotel. However, even if it had been true, there is no reason why a request to relax and have a drink in any of the other available spaces (i.e., the library or on the couches by the fire) could not have been accommodated. He then proceeded to look at his watch and tell us that we needed to be done by 8pm. He was completely rude, obnoxious and off putting. It ruined the mood of everyone in our party. When you make a reservation on the website, nowhere does it say that reservations are for 2 hour time slots. And while I understand that sometimes this does happen and you need to turn the tables quickly, there is certainly a way to convey that to the party of 7 that just walked through the door. Additionally, the group that sat at hour table immediately after us was a party of 4 - none of us observed any other tables getting rushed out of the restaurant to accommodate this group of 4 people.I will add that this was not my first time here. My husband and I had been to the maker several times prior to last night and it was always great so I looked forward to bringing my family here. Truthfully, I'm embarrassed by how we were treated and my parents and in-laws were beside themselves. There is no excuse for treating customers this way.(Shout out to our servers who were all excellent.)

I was really surprised by all of the negative reviews and I have to say, I think that The Maker Restaurant deserves better. The ambiance was just as spectacular as in the photos, and the food was delicious, especially the lamb ragu tagliatelle. My biggest complaint was about the service. It felt as if we were being rushed out of our table even though we ordered drinks, appetizers, entrees, etc. By the time we were finished with our meal we were approached at least 8 different times by various servers asking to take our plates away when we were clearly not finished. Otherwise, very much worth the trip and overall enjoyable.

The vibe and decor were *stunning* and truly special. Service was friendly and attentive even though the food took a while to come, and they even gave me free champagne for my birthday which was sooo sweet and very much appreciated! Even the table where they seated us was perfect!! However, my friend and I were both very disappointed with the food. We had the burrata appetizer, burger, and octopus entree. The burrata had almost no taste. The burger was below average. The fries and potatoes were *drenched* in oil. The octopus was chewy and lacking flavor. I really wanted to love this place so bad. I hope they improve the food because I would love to come back but if the food remains as it is, I might just stop by for some drinks and that’s all :/ I really do appreciate the restaurant very much for making me feel special on my birthday. I just wished the food was as good as everything else

Looking at this place of course we had to come here, it's so gorgeous! I luckily convinced my mom we should come here (I swear she hates everything) food was delicious and I had fun taking pictures afterwards of the entire gorgeous place. Service was great.

Wow! What a nice surprise! I had seen some negative reviews from a couple of years ago, mainly about the service, but the atmosphere looked interesting from the pictures online, and the menu looked fantastic. So we took the risk, and we are so glad we did. The restaurant itself is a conservatory, with glass ceiling and walls and giant plants throughout. It has a chic bohemian decor and vibe. Dimly lit with shabby chic chandeliers, velvet curtains, and colorful velvet and brocade chairs with comfy pillows. Our waiter was professional and helpful and the support staff was right there to take away empty plates and glasses. Our salads came out halfway through our first drink and our entrées came out before we finished our salads. Perfect timing! The restaurant has an impressive selection of spirits, and the cocktails were beautiful and delicious. My husband and I ordered dirty martinis with Plymouth gin and the balance of flavors was just right. Then I ordered one of their signature fragrance cocktails called “Naked,” which contained gin, aloe liqueur and tangerine cordial with a layered pink peppercorn and carrot ice cube! For our entrées, my husband ordered the grilled octopus and I ordered the tagliatelle with lamb Ragu. We also ordered dinner salads — radicchio with vinaigrette and Gorgonzola cream - so simple but ridiculously good! And our entrées were so delicious! I will say, neither of us are easily impressed, so it’s quite amazing that we both loved every part of the experience. We will definitely go again!

Was a bit hesitant seeing some of the reviews however this was a pleasant meal. The food was good including the Branzino and Lamb Pasta. While yes I agree with the portion size of the Branzino it still tasted delicious. They could have a more dynamic food menu with additional sides but I understand the vibe they are going for so it’s purposeful. Drinks were great especially if you order of the lounge drink menu. Atmosphere was ideal and the service was good. They were responsive, nice and courteous. This was my experience regarding service so it seems they have improved from previous posts. I’d recommend for a nice intimate meal.

Had breakfast here and loved it so i came back the next night for drinks and dinner. Their lounge is as cool and good as any speakeasy in new york city. Dinner was fantastic. Loved the cavatelli with pork sausage. Great service. Great ambiance. Can't wait to return.

Beautiful atmosphere and great cocktails. We got the beef tartar, cacio e pepe, and octopus. The cacio e pepe was overcooked and extremely salty. The octopus was burnt to the point where the bottom half was only char. When we complained, the manager was really nice and removed it from the bill. Then at 5am in the morning, I woke up with extreme stomach pains and food poisoning from either the beef tartar or octopus. Just stick to this place for cocktails only.

Really lovely decor throughout the hotel and restaurant spaces. These are a pleasure.Menu: for dinner on a cool December night, the menu missed the mark. Interesting combinations but I felt the cool or even chilled side veg items on the plate were better suited to summer weather. For example, putting a piece of grilled branzino or trout on a cold plate with a lemon chilled white bean salad might work in August but fails in winter. Btw, it was literally the tiniest filet of branzino I’ve ever encountered. A size more suitable to a light appetizer.Service: it’s a rare restaurant outside of the city that has trained its servers and The Maker suffers here. Took forever to a drink and then we hadn’t had two bites of our app before entrees arrived. Preset empty wineglasses not removed until halfway through dinner. No check back to see food arrived as ordered. No check back to ask if I might like a glass of wine with dinner. The server was largely absent. When my 86 year old mother asked for the ladies room, the hostess or waitress pointed vaguely in a general direction and I had to ask her to walk her there to find it. No manager in evidence this Saturday night to ensure customers were happy. Basically, no adult supervision. In short, a disappointing experience. Food fails to execute on its promise and lacks seasonality. Service was pretentious and amateur. I would return to the cafe for lunch — it’s always nice — but not to the main dining rooms for dinner.
