We booked the Vanderbilt Lakeside for our Rehearsal Dinner (our wedding took place in in August 2022) and as lodging for some of our family. We initially booked the lodging a year out from the wedding, and then decided about two months before the wedding to add a rehearsal Dinner there. The site is beautiful and idyllic while still being in the town in Philmont, making it convenient for our guests. The Vanderbilt team was communicative and accommodating of our requests for both the event and the lodging. We requested that the pool table be available and they made it happen, even with a seated dinner for 75 guests. The rooms are spacious and well kept and our family was extremely comfortable during their stay. The dinner was incredible, with thoughtful planning and absolutely delicious food. The guests were raving about it for days! The service was also impeccable. I would highly recommend the Vanderbilt Lakeside for any event: wedding, Rehearsal Dinner, family reunion, whatever life event you are celebrating. Hopefully we will have another opportunity to celebrate with the Vanderbilt Lakeside again!

My husband and I recently got married in Ghent and we held our other wedding weekend events (rehearsal dinner, welcome drinks, and Sunday brunch) at the Vanderbilt Lakeside; we also stayed at the inn with our bridal party and significant others. It was a magical weekend in every way. The decor is gorgeous, just the right mix of trendy, eclectic, and artistic to have gorgeous, Instagram/magazine-worthy views every way you turn. The guest rooms are extremely clean and with thoughtful amenities, and are light-filled during the day with incredibly comfortable beds and quiet at night. What made our weekend so special was the incredible power couple in Henrietta and Matt planning each event with us. The rehearsal dinner was absolutely magical - drinks by the gorgeous downstairs bar and chic patio followed by a long farm table with bud vases and perfect upstate summer evening vibes, incredible food from Matt who is a true culinary talent, a gorgeous signature cocktail and every detail coordinated seamlessly by Henrietta. As rehearsal dinner transitioned into welcome drinks, the patio and lawn lit up by bistro lights and a bonfire with a full moon lighting up the lake, guests came up to us and exclaimed about how the evening had the perfect feel of a casual garden party but with everything executed flawlessly and professionally. We are so incredibly lucky to have come across this absolute gem of a venue for our wedding weekend and can't recommend it highly enough for any event. We'll be basking in the glow of this wonderful inn and team for years to come.

The space is gorgeously decorated in a sophisticated yet comforting aesthetic to the extent that the pictures don't do it justice. The inside and outside were both spacious and accommodating to our group of 15. Henrietta and Matt made us feel unbelievably welcome with their kindness, care, and attention to detail. The rooms were comfortable, the food was spectacular, and the their flexibility with every detail made the entire experience feel as personal as it was special. The saddest part of the experience was parting with a space that will forever be a part of our history. Henrietta and Matt, we appreciate you so much!

When looking for venues I wanted an intimate setting that would allow us to personalize our event and spend extra time with our closest family and friends. Vanderbilt did just that and SO much more. Off-the-bat, this guesthouse has a ton of personality. It is immediately obvious that a lot of time and effort went into the small touches. The decor is interesting and beautiful (so much so that we really didn't even need additional decor for our event). It was particularly meaningful to us that there are 8 comfortable bedrooms with bathrooms and thermostats, so we had our closest family and friends stay with us for the weekend. There is a beautiful and expansive backyard directly on a large lake. We had our wedding ceremony under the backyard maple tree and it was picturesque. I could go on and on about the beautiful Ambiance of The Vanderbilt, but perhaps the MOST important and endearing quality about this guesthouse is the owners, Henrietta and Matt. These two went above and beyond to make our weekend so special. From the get-go, Henrietta was extremely thorough and communicative. She was informative, flexible, and thoughtful. She gave meaningful opinions while taking our thoughts and feelings into consideration. On the weekend of our event, Henrietta and Matt were incredibly approachable and available to help fine tune our vision (without being overbearing). Matt is the chef and his food was a HIT. We chose to go with similar dishes that Matt had offered in the past, but he was very flexible with any changes or specific requests. Our guests raved about the food (and cocktails), and I think it will be one of the most memorable parts of our evening. We cannot recommend this venue enough for any special event or get together. The food, drinks, and service at Vanderbilt are something that you will not get at a more traditional venue or event space. We are so grateful to have been able to get married here, and we're already anticipating getting to return back for a more low-key weekend.

The dinner was exceptional- the presentation as well as the quality of the food. Everyone was raving about it! It was a hot day and Henrietta and the team still accommodated our last minute changes to move the dinner back outside. We were so appreciative of their flexibility. Also, we were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the beds were! We had a great night sleep before the big day.

From the start, Henrietta was extremely accommodating, very communicative, and was open to helping us realize our vision for our wedding weekend. The moment we walked into the guesthouse we felt the warmth of it and the care Henrietta and Matt (her husband and chef) put into making that space feel like a home. That homey feeling, the mid-century aesthetic of the space, along with their catering services, helped us choose it as our wedding venue. What was great about this experience was that it felt very personal - Henrietta and Matt worked with us personally to create the perfect Mediterranean tapas menu and to ensure everything was set up in the space before our big weekend. We also loved the ability to rent out the entire guesthouse for the weekend and host half of our wedding guests there as if we were inviting them into our own home. Our guests loved their stay there and we even cooked a huge breakfast for 17 people in the commercial kitchen on Sunday morning (my dream)! My wife and I keep reminiscing about the weekend and we wish we could relive it again and again. Thank you, Henrietta and Matt, for creating this beautiful experience for us, our family, and our close friends. We wouldn’t have done it any other way!

It was almost like we have a wedding consultant. The food prepared by Matthew was just out of this world. All of our 16 guests loved the food. The diversity, freshness and flavor was something we had not experienced before. The drinks and bartender was amazing as well. All our guests were very pleased at the service we received. We held our wedding here in July 2021 and could not be happier with the way it all turned out. First of all the venue is spectacular — the vibe, the little attention to detail, all of it. Then there are the owners. Henrietta was incredibly easy to work with in planing our event. She graciously answered all of my many questions and always made sure we had all the info we needed. Matt is an absolutely terrific chef. I’ll admit I was a little nervous about the food going into it, but he 1000% blew my expectations out of the water and family and friends agree. An uncle said it was the best food he’s EVER had at a wedding! I’ll also give a shout out to the catering staff, all of which were friendly and clearly very good at their jobs.

The house is so comfortable and the backyard is so large and inviting. The commercial kitchen was so clean and easy to use. Overall it was just the best place we could ever find for this type of celebration.There were games to play and a full bar to enjoy. The peach Sangria we ordered went down very easily and quickly. They left a smores party kit which was fun.Henrietta and Matt were more than hospitable. And Crystal, the server was over the top professional and friendly.Let's talk about the dinner. What??? I would rate the food more than 5☆☆☆☆☆. They listened and anticipated the needs of our multigenerational family’s recent weeklong stay, from suggestions for activities to accommodating all sorts of dietary needs/restrictions. I cannot recommend the vanderbilt lakeside more. The place is more stunning in person than the photos. Each room is beautiful, the bar area, dining room, living room as well as the outside are out of a movie. Henrietta answered all of my questions (and there were a ton) in a very timely manner and was always nothing but friendly. She and her husband cooked for us one night and the food was the best we had all weekend. This is one of my favorite places I've ever stayed at!
