Local kind of place. Sit at the sushi bar and get a special extra. I drop in here often. Food is fresh! Great miso soup.
Vegetarian options: I eat fish but not meat or poultry. There is a lot here to eat if you enjoy fish. My favorites are shrimp shumai and vegetable tempura. Also some other well labeled vegetarian options.
I just have to say Akebono is one of the best sushi joints around the greater Huntington area! I have had a variety of rolls and always great (and the prices are awesome too). The owner is engaging and brings the spirit as well.
I always enjoy dinner at akebono. The sushi has always been great, as is the service. Patty makes each visit special. You can't go wrong with any of their rolls. As for apps, we always get the spicy tuna tartar, but recently we also tried their garlic edamame. It was delicious and we'll probably be ordering two appetizers from now on.

Sat for over 10 minutes while waiting for somebody, anybody to acknowledge me and my girlfriend sitting there. Couple came in right after we did, sat right next to us and got their drinks, salad and soup in a timely fashion. I’d probably still be sitting there a day later waiting to place an order.

The staff is excellent. They make it a point to remember your name and are so accommodating. Patty and Angela are stand outs. The yellowtail jalapeño is a very strong dish! Great place! Great food!
