“If you want a place to go eat with dirty hands this is the one! Bathroom is always closed but there’s an alley not too far away. You can tell management really cares about the customer experience when they keep the bathroom closed from customers. And they even have tables, that alone would be a health department violation(tables without a working bathroom) but who has time to call them anyway? I think the stuff here is delicious but it could also be the flavor from the last customer on the door handle so who knows?”

“Vauxhall has been one of our favorite places for a burger or the fried chicken sandwich. Yesterday, 5//7/24… we went for a late lunch. I decided to try the new Double Smash burger. It was by far, the best burger I’ve ever had. My wife had her usual, the fried chicken sandwich. We’ve never had anything but a great meal and drink at our favorite Huntington haunt.”

“We moved off Long Island over 8 years ago and always loved la Parma when we lived here even though it was an hour drive for us to enjoy the amazing food. This time when we came up to visit for Christmas we knew we had to get there for a great dinner. I can easily say it still is one of the best places to get amazing Italian food around. The Chicken Napoli was phenomenal and there is nothing like their penne à la vodka! The drinks were great and service was top notch. We also happened to go the day after Christmas when we got lots of snow and the car valet even brushed off our car! We were so happy to not feel rushed because we were there with great friends and just really enjoying ourselves! We can’t wait to come back and visit from Georgia to have their food again!”

As many of my followers know, I don’t believe in one-and-done restaurant reviews. Real opinions come from returning multiple times to understand the consistency, quality, and service over time. That’s how a restaurant earns the label of being truly great.

Last night we returned to Piccolo and once again it delivered.

A warm greeting, a quick stop at the bar, running into friends for some laughs, and then a beautiful dinner with my wife in one of Huntington’s most charming dining rooms. Even with a lively crowd, the atmosphere somehow melts into the background and lets you focus on the moment and the person across the table.

Jeremy took great care of us while Jason stopped by to check in, something that always makes the experience feel personal.

We started with the wedge salad and a thoughtful complimentary tuna tartare that was bright, fresh, and beautifully balanced with avocado.

My wife chose the Orecchiette Caroline — perfectly balanced with hot & sweet sausage, broccoli rabe, tomatoes, garlic and oil.

I went with the weekly special Braised Boneless Beef Short Rib with horseradish cream, rich jus, crispy onions, vegetables and mashed potatoes — tender, flavorful and beautifully presented.

We finished with their house-made carrot cake and cappuccino, which remains one of my favorites.

Piccolo continues to deliver warm hospitality, exceptional food, and that perfect romantic neighborhood atmosphere that keeps us coming back.

“Honestly, this place is so slept on... Krave It has the best pizza in Bayside— by a LANDSLIDE. I love that they use unbromated flour and I appreciate that every piece (even the specialty slices with many heavy toppings) has great structure, no flop. Thin & crispy crust, great ratio of sauce and cheese. I also love how clean the restaurant is. They have some incredible specialty slices that I never knew I needed in my life until I tried them! Especially the “Desi Boy” slice and the “white truffle chicken cutlet” slice. I also have to mention their vodka slice with sesame crust 🤤 Everything in this place is high quality, even their regular slices. Their sandwiches are pretty incredible too, and you can tell that the bread is fresh made in house— you don’t feel bloated or overly stuffed after eating them! The owner is super friendly and even gave us a couple extra slices to try to complete our “pie” when we had already ordered a small variety of slices. The staff are all very friendly and it feels very comfortable and less stuffy than some of the other pizzerias in the area. Happy to give this place my business. Give them a try, you will be back for more!”

The sad part is, for years I have been patronizing Fiorello Dolce even though it is a 20 minute drive from home. I have also recommended them to several people as the best bakery around. You can be sure of two things: I will never go back there again and I will share this story with as many people as possible.”

“Literally the greatest food I’ve ever eaten, ever. Full stop. I’ve been a loyal customer since high school, and through college, living overseas and living out of state, Gold Mine is a must visit whenever I’m in town. If I were about to be executed, my last meal would be: Cajun chicken quesadilla, chips with melted cheddar, lemon chip sauce, and Dave’s pico de gallo. A little guac and sour cream on the side but honestly the pico and lemon chip are more important. The food is SO good that guac is an afterthought. Usually guac is the first thing people consider when having Mexican. My biggest fear is that Dave will retire. I wish he’d write a cookbook. My only “complaint,” if you can call it that, is that it’s primarily a takeout joint, although there are tables and you’re totally welcome to sit there and eat. I’m a sucker for ambience and I’d happily pay top dollar for waitstaff and charm out the wazoo so I can sit there with friends and have a full dining experience. Regardless, none of this changes the fact that it’s the best food in the galaxy.”

Next comes the ridiculous part--when I was booking a reservation, I checked out menus thoroughly. On their website, I viewed their menu. Never saw a brunch menu. Our reservation was at 3. We got there 10 minutes early and were seated. Brunch menu still on the table. We ordered drinks and when the waitress came back, I asked when dinner started (now I know 3pm is early for dinner, but we were hoping for apps). She said brunch is served until 5pm. We were at a loss. We ordered the breakfast pizzette to just try something. It came out at least 20 minutes later and it was cold. Eggs were cold. Pizza crust was cold. Barely any prosciutto and what was there was burned. No fondue on our pizza as described, and the arugula smelled awful--it was starting to turn. We couldn't get our check fast enough. Will not be going back. Definitely focus on food before trying to build a social media following with swanky decor.”

“Visted establishment this past Sunday around 1:00 AM. Was looking for a top-rated burger joint in Huntington and decided to give this restaurant a try. I was greeted by a very pleasant young man, and I found the food to be excellent. I ordered the single burger, fries, and onion rings; everything was delicious, well-priced, and the portions were very generous.

However, a few concerns regarding the cleanliness of the dining area. The floors appeared as though they hadn't been cleaned in some time. Additionally, I noticed the staff member used Windex to clean the tables, which led me to take my meal to go rather than dining in.

I would have loved to leave a five-star review because the service and food were so good, but the condition of the restaurant was a significant deterrent. Hopefully they will improve the experience for future guests.”
