“This place has GREAT FISH -- it is always so fresh, from the clams to the salmon to the bass to the scallops... Gus, the owner, is the nicest person -- and really knowledgeable about how to cook each kind of fish, if you have a question. If you want something specific, call him a few days in advance, and he'll almost definitely get it for you. All the soups here are amazing -- you will not find a lobster bisque with more lobster in it, anywhere! The clam chowder and cajun corn crab are amazing. The fish and chips is also delicious, not too heavy and not too greasy. As a restaurant, it's a fish shack you'd expect to find on a beach somewhere. The place is not fancy and no one should expect it to be. The food, however, is great and the service is beyond friendly.“
“My husband and I had an amazing meal here last night for my birthday. We had the fried calamari, grilled octopus, Caesar salad, stuffed lobster tail, and the hanger steak with an amazing mushroom sauce. The steak was so tender, it was like butter. The food was all delicious from apps to entrees and we really wanted to try a dessert too but were so full because of their large portions. We wondered why this place wasn't more popular We tried DJ's again today, again the place was empty but we knew that we were going to enjoy the food. I had the Lobster Roll with a side of sweet potato fries, we shared the baked clams and my wife loved her shrimp tacos. We travel for great food and we live at least 20 miles from a DJ's but well worth the trip, as we were leaving we asked the girls working, why this place was empty ( except for another couple) who joined our conversation about the quality of food here. “Saturday evening dinner without a reservation. Walking in, my eyes immediately gravitated to the pictures of the owners and the many celebrities that have eaten and visited there before. The bar area is very nice and large, with TVs playing sports and news. We were greeted, welcomed and seated immediately. The dining area is very large and decorous. The tables large enough to sit us all. My cousin-in-law and his family frequent the restaurant and he practically knows everyone there, so as we sat, we were introduced to the owners and pretty much about a half dozen waiters and other staff members. All were extremely friendly and welcoming. As expected with all family style restaurants, the tables are very close to one another but positioned in a way that still allowed for ample space for you to move and sit comfortably. When we sat, there were hardly any people there, but within an hour it was full of patrons and large families. It was loud, but manageable. The food was unbelievably delicious. I haven't had true traditional family style Italian food in a long time. From the Fried Calamari and cold antipasto appetizers, to our Veal Parmigiana, Penne allá Vodka with Shrimp and prosciutto entrees. Paired with a Cabernet Sauvignon Palermo Napa, I truly enjoyed my meal. I haven't enjoyed food this good in a long time. My girls shared a huge plate of Chicken fingers and fries, and they loved it. I highly recommend anyone who's in the area to dine here. You won't regret it. Thank you for a great meal and patronage.“
“Very good food at Popei's starting with their garlic+ bread. I had the lobster and shrimp stuffed penne in vodka sauce - hearty, tender, perfectly cooked seafood without that rubbery feeling in a fantastically creamy sauce. I sliced my stuffed penne into diagonal strips and every bite was amazing. Others had the crab leg and steak special; crab wasn't as good as my shrimp and lobster being a little over-boiled perhaps but the skirt steak had great flavor and chew. Most entrées hovered around $30. Would absolutely return.Note they have valet parking due to its popularity and limited parking space - so bring some small bills.“
“Always a special night at Grasso's. We've been coming since before the new owners. And it is better than ever. They serve a fresh baked roll with a hint of garlic when you sit down. For entrees, we have had the bone in veal chop twice, both times really large, and excellent. Previously parmigiano and last night with an incredible mushroom sauce, so good. We have had the zucchini linguini every time we dine here since we first tried it. It is all veggies, and all delicious. Ended with decaf coffee and decaf cappuccino, hot and impossible to distinguish from caffeinated coffee. I do not add milk to coffee if the restaurant does it right, which Grasso's always does. Served with biscotti I'm pretty sure came from a good bakery, not a package. Always live music, and where else can you find that on Long Island?“
“I have really loved going there. The only complain would be the side salad. The Caesar dressing is awful and they have no ranch dressing. The steaks are good, but we are from Kansas City, so there's that. The meatloaf and other meals have been very good and we go on a fairly regular basis.“
“Made a reservation here for restaurant week. Apparently didn't need one. The place has its own parking lot with about a dozen spots. We entered the building which took us into the bar, which was bustling. The dining room was quaint, with some really nice booths and a fireplace that should have been lit. Our server was a good looking young man, pleasant, not overbearing with a sense of humor. We opted to include an additional appetizer of baked clams to our meal, along with the crab cake and winter salad, which I forgot to take photos of. My friend opted for the lamb chops while I had the branzino piccata. Yummy, although the menu never stated that the fish was served over a shrimp risotto. (I'm allergic to shrimp). Only 1 bone in the fish, so I was lucky. Our dessert consisted of tiramisu and rainbow cookie cheesecake. I was "fortunate" to get the last piece although not very cheesecake-y. All in all we had a nice dinner and will maybe return for another meal.“

“Delicious Cuban food and service! We had the smoked pork chops, boiled yucca, moros, black beans, oxtail, fried grouper, flounder in garlic sauce, and a salad. We also got ham croquettes and the extremes platter (Cuban antipasto) as an app. We cleaned almost everything on our plates due to how good it was, and also had some flan for dessert and churros and tres leches. The drinks were good and nicely spiked, we all liked the hurricane, mojito, and iced tea. Price was not bad for all that we had. Very good and will come back :)“

We had the chickpea fries as well but I wasn't a fan of those. Our main dishes included the Pappardelle Bolognese and the Branzino. Both seemed expertly crafted. I have no complaints there. They seem to have a solid wine collection so don't worry about finding the right libation to add to your dinner.There were some slight service glitches and some of the staff seemed less than warm, but that could've been a fluke or my perception. Don't let that deter you. I would come back for sure!“

I am very particular about my steaks, though, especially considering this is a well-known steakhouse. I ordered medium rare, but it was pretty significantly overcooked. It was still delicious, and I didn't want to make a big deal of it. But, because of how expensive everything was, I was tempted. Overall, it was a phenomenal experience. Forgetting a lot of ingredients and when I asked for a little salmon with my spicy tuna, she literally put one piece of it. I always pay extra for the salmon add on but she didn't let me explain. Then when my mom wanted peanuts on her order, she put a pinch of it. I'm sorry but I don't know if I can keep going somewhere and constantly telling them what to put on when she keeps looking back at the menu and still forgets. Before her, I had no problem at all! Literally would come here at least 2-3 times a week. Also you guys should put more seasoned tuna bc I always get the number 2. They never have any left and just put the giant onion pieces which I hate.“

“A nice place for dinner. I went there with 3 friends on a Saturday nite at 7 pm. Was seated right away. All was great until the waiter spilled some sauce on one of us. Hey, accidents happened, and they compted the appetisers and moved us to a new table. Otherwise, the service was great. The calamari appetiser was light and crispy. Two people got shrimp scampi and said it was the best they ever had as was my veal Parmigiano dinner. It had a very tasty red sauce. The portions are big, and 3 people took leftovers home. Not only were they amazing the day of but also during pre-planning! They came to check out my yard ahead of time to see where they would set up, offered me two boat options to serve the seafood out of, and they checked in continuously throughout the process. They have a big selection of slices available , I usually get the brick oven pizzetta which is delicious. Their garlic knots are some of the best around. It can be extremely busy sometimes, but the service is good and the guys behind the counter are all funny and treat you like family. Highly recommend!“
