I don't rave about Italian restaurants. My mother's cooking is incomparable. But the "Sunday special " I had this evening tasted so close that it felt like home. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly. Moderately priced.

You expect a level of hospitality when you go to an Italian restaurant, and Almarco falls short (especially for the high prices). No bread while you wait for your food (a lil bread and olive oil would have been nice). Expensive dishes and no salad included?!? Come on, this is why the place is usually empty. And don't get me started on their soft drinks, smallest bottles they could find of Coke (8oz glass bottles) and no free refills. The hostess/waitress has no sense of awareness when it comes to the importance of hygiene in this industry, they have paper straws but she brings it over without a cover so her hands are touching the straw in the place it will either touch your mouth or the inside of your glass, not hygienic at all! Also, she comes to clear the drink bottles at your table, without asking you if you are done, proceeds to SHAKE IT (as it is dark colored glass) to see if it is empty before she takes it away. She literally did that to our ginger ale that was half full (fingers all over the lip of the bottle) and when she noticed we weren't done with it, she left it and didn't even apologize for touching the lip. And if all that is fine with you, the pizza was undercooked and soggy on the bottom, so gross! Not going back again.
My favorite restaurant in Huntington. The staff and management are outstanding and the food is even better! Great Sunday brunch and unhurried atmosphere. Seating out front and also on the back patio. People watching out front, parking lot out back where you may watch drivers circling like sharks to find a space.

Overall good food. The fried mozzarella was some of the best I ever had. My main issue was that the restuarant was absolutely empty when we went and yet there was a mistake in the order which ended up on the bill. I get it, things happen, but not a great first impression.
