Crabtree's New York & Main

I’m not been here in a long time, not sure why. It was excellent and the service was amazing. Most likely I’m gonna make this my new regular spot.

Crabtree’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Huntington- and is one my partner and I consistently go back to. The ambiance for starters is beautiful, overlooking the village, sultry lighting, beautiful layout, and sometimes live music which is always amazing. Great mix between casual/young bar energy and elegant/intimate dinning. The food is incredibly consistent. I’ve been here probably more than I can count of my hands and I have never been disappointed with any dish I have had- moved to Huntington around 1.5 years ago and I always go back here for food that I KNOW is good. Their seasonal pot pie is something I think ab regularly- my partner and I both came back numerous times to have it when it was available. Burger is simple and better than the rest in the village. Tuna tartar is spot on. Also, their tater tots are amazing. Drinks are great and they have an amazing happy hour deal. Guinness always poured perfectly and great rotating taps. Servers have never not been attentive and personable.
After claiming this to be one of the staple restaurants in my rotation, I thought it was time to leave a review so that more people feel inclined to come here because Crabtree’s is such an outstanding restaurant in every way.

Came here for a friend’s bday. Unfortunately this place did not meet our expectations at all. The tater tots fell apart and needed salt (which they don’t keep on the table.) The turkey burger was undercooked and also needed salt and some flavor. The fries were limp. One of the biggest jokes was the “white ketchup.” Guys… it’s store bought ranch. Tastes like Hidden Valley. Wish this place was better. Instead we sadly paid 18 dollars for 3 chicken fingers.

Drinks were great and so was service! Unfortunately the service and atmosphere don’t match the kitchen and menu.

Crabtrees is a staple in our weekly Friday rotation. It has a great happy hour and the food / drinks are always consistently good. Their specials rotate seasonally and provide a great mix of dishes you wouldn’t typically see at other local restaurants. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. Definitely a place we will continue to return to and bring friends too. Also good selection of vegetarian / vegan options too!

I recently hosted a private party for my wife at Crabtree’s and I can unequivocally recommend it as a great place to hold an event. From menu planning, through suggestions to make the party more personalized for my wife, through staffing and actual execution of the event, everything went smoothly and my wife and all our guests had a blast. While planning, owner Andrew offered creative options for food that really made it special (btw if you haven’t eaten there, the food is great!). He and manager Kathy were fun to work with, very responsive, and took so much stress out of the process for me. 100% recommend.

Plenty of other bars in Huntington - don’t spend your money here and certainly don’t host an event here. Not a review-giver but it should be public knowledge that the owner Andrew Crabtree is a low life who schemed a wedding afterparty, was purposefully misleading and dishonest with information such as the availability of space within the bar, and disparaged the family to boot. Awful experience that was fully avoidable at the hands of a better person as the Owner.

- I had multiple conversations with owner & manager in weeks and months leading to event and a minimum spend on a bar tab was mutually agreed to. At no point was I asked to sign a contract or provide a deposit, would have been happy to do so had I known that the restaurant would not honor their side of the agreement (shame on me for trusting the owners words I guess).

- I only learned from owner in conversation #2 that we would not have the small bar as private. I was not provided a price to rent out the space. However we discussed and the Owner's exact words were that "by the time that your party arrives there should only be a few people left at the bar and you should have the majority of the place to yourselves." This couldn't have been further from the truth when the party arrived at the previously discussed time and the restaurant was nearly full. The Owner asked for multiple confirmations on the timing and party size so that he could staff accordingly, further confirming that they would have space available for us. He even mentioned having additional waitresses available if the bar was tied up (also was not the case).

- At no point did I ask to have other guests removed from the bar. I pointed out 1 person sitting at a table in the middle of 2 other empty tables and asked if they could be moved to create more space, and noted that the Owner sat a new table of people (seemingly his friends) instead of creating more space for the party.

- The conversation grew more angry as I was trying to point out the inaccuracies in the information delivered to me on our phone calls and was meeting a stonewall. Having agreed to a set minimum, the expectation existed that there would at least be adequate space available within the bar to accommodate. This was not the case when we arrived (at the exact time that we had discussed, the Owner also tried to tell me that I was 30 minutes late which was never the truth as we both know). He then also said that he could no longer guarantee that the bar tab would be kept to wedding guests only, something that we discussed multiple times over the phone as well.

- The minimum was not met because a large portion of the party left within the first 30 minutes since they did not have enough space, or else there would have been no problem meeting the minimum. I'm also aware of other wedding guests spending on their own cards as well which wasn't supposed to be the case until the minimum had been met.

- Also happy to review footage of mine and my family's alleged behavior, there was no issue there and at no point was the Owner "accosted." If we do so, we will also find the Owner yelling at the bride that we could all leave causing her to cry outside, before coming back inside later on. His behavior was childish in the way that he wouldn't speak to me or my mother after being called out for his dishonesty, and used the manager as an intermediary shield (which seemingly continues).

- Would like to point out that the manager was great and did everything she could to aid in a really bad situation. That being said, there is plenty more that the bar could have done in advance to help avoid this when they knew that our party was arriving and to hold up their end of the agreement and conversations that were had. Normally, I would give this restaurant a 5 star. My wife and I love this place. Unfortunately, I also am not one to let things go no matter how big or small. With that said, if my meal (the english meatballs) comes out overcooked and the meatballs are rubber, hockey pucks - I expect to be asked would I like something else or politely remove it off the check. I overlooked the dish to have no salt whatsoever, fine - that's fixable. And yes, I did address this to the waiter. And out of respect - he was a good waiter up until this misjudgement. He apologized and that's about it. We have supported this restaurant through the good and the bad (Covid) and to times they were slow. I hope the owners/management read this and make this right for me. After all, I'm not being unreasonable here.

We ate here a couple of times, the food and the service was ok at best. We had an issue with our service, and I had addressed it with the manager, but he was very, very unprofessional. I will not recommend this place to anyone. I know several other people who had issues with the manager as well, and they all had the same reaction from him. Like I said, we will never recommend this place to anyone.
