We went for a special occasion and sat outside. It is really nice looking out over the Hudson but alas it was not the right place for a special occasion. It's really a very casual bistro. The mains were really quite expensive for what they were - the salmon in particular looked like a child's portion. The arugula salad was quite mediocre and not well put together. That was a bad sign right off the bat. I will say our desserts were fantastic. I might go back for lunch outside and have a sandwich. If you go for dinner, know that it is quite casual and that you may need dessert if you get one of the main courses.
Spectacular views. A hidden gem. I'll definitely visit it again. The food was good and so was the service.
We ended up sitting out on the patio. It was a great meal. The service staff were all courteous and attentive. It was also great to have dinner and get to watch the sun set over the Hudson River. As the sun was going down the staff brought out lanterns for the tables.
One of my all time favorite places! The food is imaginative and delicious, and the staff (managed by wonderful Betty) is warm, welcoming and terrific!
The experience was all we expected. We arrived just after opening. The restaurant was quiet though this quickly changed as the main level, mezzanine and outdoor riverfront terrace quickly filled. The service was friendly, professional and attentive the entirety of our visit. Our server Betty was knowledgeable about the menu, had good recommendations and explained unfamiliar ingredients. We were never rushed - we were surprised to find we'd been dining nearly 2 hours. Pricing is good, portions are generous and the menu options extensive. The setting is very nicely designed with a mix of traditional and modern element and a beautiful selection of original paintings to appreciate. I wish the noise level were better - there were times it was difficult to hear our party owing to the full restaurant, a few large parties and many hard surfaces which amplified sound. This will not deter us from future visits; my parents have declared it's their favorite restaurant. Thank you for making our occasion memorable!
My husband and I went there to celebrate our anniversary. We ate outside, the view was amazing and the sun was setting. The staff was very nice and attentive. We really enjoyed the evening. We ordered a piece of key lime pie (most delicious key lime pie I ever tasted) and the staff had a candle and a note card wishing a us a Happy Anniversary. That was a very special touch and made it a very memorable evening.
Outdoor seating was perfect for a beautiful summer day. the location provides great vista with the Hudson River and bridge as a backdrop.
Went for the ambiance (ate outdoors and boy were we lucky with the weather) and got the experience we'd hoped for. Hosted a party of six, and everyone was very happy with the food they ordered. Now, we'd return just for the food. A wonderful evening that exceeded our expectations.
Four adults and a 7 year old, ordered 2 appetizers to share, 8 alcoholic drinks, 5 main dishes and 3 desserts at this special birthday celebration. Cost was around $100 per person including tip. The setting on the river is spectacular and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. We were seated initially at a very large round table near very loud-taking patrons. We asked to be moved to a quieter spot. The staff could not have been more accommodating. We were able to communicate easily with our grandson despite our senior hearing loss challenges. The food was excellent from the charcuterie platter and bread to the meatballs, the lobster roll and the best burger my husband has ever had! The dessert menu is large and the special olive oil cake really pleased 3 of our party. This is an upscale dining experience worth every penny.
Another wonderful experience at Red Hat on the River. From the gracious hostess, to all the servers, and the fabulous food. Even the weather was perfect!

Very good venue in all respects, except the view of the Hudson River, which is stellar.. 10 stars for the view!
I went for lunch on Labor Day and sat inside. The room was gorgeous and the view of the Hudson was perfect. It was a little pricey but worth it. The food and drinks were excellent. The service was a bit slow. I would definitely return.
Nice view and good food and service. Enjoyed sitting indoors but by the windows so we all had a river view.
Beautiful venue and view of the Hudson, however, food was not great and overpriced for relatively small portions. FYI you cannot get straws at this restaurant - they will charge you for use of a metal straw (that you get to take home).
Everything we ate was delish from the meatballs, peach & burrata to the lobster roll and you just can't beat the spectacular view at sunset.
