Took a friend for lunch. The smoked salmon sandwich and caesar salad were overpriced. Portions were extremely small. Service was spotty at best. Ambience was fine. Staff was friendly. Olive oil cake delicious. Overall, the value was poor. We left feeling like we wouldn't return. The food was tasty enough, but at these prices (all in about $100--no alcohol, one mocktail, one coffee, one dessert, two "entrees"), just not enough to keep us coming back.
I have been a patron of Red Hat for years and have not been dissappointed. However, the Valentine's day experience has given me pause. The general feeling on the Prix Fixe menu was you are hearded in and out. The quality of the food was poor compared to previous experiences. The food felt mass produced, poorly prepared, overly salty, over cooked stake, pale and unappetizing branzino. You were given a sample of available desserts, thus pinning the types in one plate. Overall, I will skip this venue if I consider Valentine's dinner in the future.
Food was well prepared - had the scallops, didn't understand the olives in the recipe. It took away from the overall flavor. Service was attentive and polite. Wait staff were quick and knowledgeable. Sommelier was also very helpful. The down side to this experience was that It seemed as if they were trying to turn over the table quickly so you felt rushed. And there was this intermittent banging like an unleveled washing machine on spin cycle. Very distracting.
This place is great! The food is excellent also, Gluten Free friendly which was a nice surprise. The view is beautiful, right on the river. Staff is warm and friendly. Food came out quick even though they were packed. Definitely going back!
Red Hat went out of their way to make our 22nd Anniversary as magical as possible!!! We are both very grateful!!!
Good food, service and great location for scenic river view.. Beautiful Hudson River had ice floating downstream from the recent storm and frigid temps.
This is a wonderful go-to restaurant with a killer view of the Hudson River. Warmer months provide outside seating, which gets you closer to the water. A little pricey, but the food and preparation are wonderful.
server needed to be better at communicating with guests and not be so brief and disconnected with guests needs.
The food is always excellent and the views of the river, bridge, NJ and Manhattan are spectacular.
Staff called me to confirm and asked if we could be upstairs. I said no and that my mom walks with a walker. They put us at a table where there was room for the walker close by. The table was perfect and service fantastic.

Terrible service. Not allowed to order an appetizer with wine while deciding on main course. Told we had to order everything at once. During meal removed husband's wineglass w/o provocation. Never asked wife if she wanted a second glass of wine. Wished us a happy anniversary with mini-biscotti while handing us a happy birthday card. Had not been there since Mr Patterson owned it. Will never go back
The view alone is worth a visit but the food and service are also very good and worth the trip!
Our entire experience at Red Hat, from the hostess and host, to servers, the delicious food, restaurant setting and ambiance, was superb! Can't wait to return!
Food was delicious and being seated upstairs made for a quieter evening, easy to hear our dinner companions. Will definitely return.
The meals were flavorful. I was looking forward to having mussels but they were so tiny and difficult to grab with the small fork. Frites were great as usual. Service was a bit slow because everyone seemed to arrive at once.
