It seems the restaurant is on the decline. Food, interior and atmosphere is aging. Needs a refresh.
My sister and I took our two aunts, uncle, and friend there today for lunch - the food was delicious and the service, excellent! It was quiet since not many people were dining there at the time - 12:30 on a Wednesday (I have been there several times for dinner when it is usually a full house). We had papaya salad, spring rolls, and curry puffs to start followed by massaman curry (with chicken), 2 orders of pad Thai - one with chicken, one with shrimp, Chinese broccoli, and pad kee maow. All scrumptious! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!
My family and friends really love this place but there's been some recent changes lately with the kitchen. The new additions to the menu are good, but the way the meat and tofu it's prepared has become inconsistent. Tofu is no longer cubed and meaty. It's now much thinner and dry. Meats, both pork and beef, are over cooked and dry. The service is impeccable and the atmosphere is really cool. I hope they will clean or replace the carpet on the stairs because it's so dirty that it's now slippery.
👍🏼👍🏼Nice view of the Hudson while enjoying our food and drinks (Spicy Guava Margarita and Lychee Martini). We ordered the Moo grob kua prik gua and the jackfruit with potatoes for appetizers. Nasi-Goreng and the Nasi Lemak for our main dishes which are all delish. We'll be back to try the other dishes. ❤️
The food was very good. The service was also very good. The restaurant was clean. The portions could have been larger but over all everything was good.
Cold November night. No heat. They told us it was broken long after we had arrived and complained. They should have called to cancel the reservation. Food was tasteless. We will not go back.
Nice place. Great staff and food.Excellent place to go in the summer. The terrace overlooks the Hudson. I've been here about 4 times and I would definitely go back.
Sunset over the Hudson was beautiful. Experience at Sambal was extremely disappointing. I had a vegetable dish with tofu. Vegetables were overcooked and food didn't taste good. A vegetarian at my table ordered a dish with vegetables only and they brought the vegetables with chicken, even though the chicken was not listed on the menu as an ingredient. This wasn't the first time the food wasn't enjoyable but it's the last time I'll dine at Sambal.
Excellent !

Been procrastinating trying this place for so long. We always go to red hat. That was a mistake. Red hat has fallen off. This was probably the best and most natural tasting beef and broccoli I’ve ever had

My first time at this restaurant the out door seating was nice. Food was good however disappointed with service. Had a glass of wine was never offered another glass. Once served our dinner my daughter was left with no fork at no time did anyone ask if we needed anything. I ended up eating with a spoon and gave my daughter my fork. Dinner was over and never offered dessert or coffee. We had to ask for our check and food we order to take out was on the bill but we never received it. I won’t return.

We've been to Sambal about six times and always gave a five star rating and review but today was a not a good experience. At 2pm we were one of four tables on the patio so not too busy. First let me say that the service was fine & friendly. We ordered some favorites. The Roti with Curry dipping sauce, sauce was sadly watery and lukewarm. Then ordered the Manchurian Cauliflower, usually fantastic and normally hot (temperature wise) and crispy, it sadly was not hot and was soggy. We also wanted to try a new dish (for us) which was the national dish of Malaysia, Nasi Lemak, a dish with Fried Anchovies as the protein ingredient but was brought a different dish of chicken but we don't eat chicken and was told the dish we ordered from the menu was a misprint! We then ordered the vegetarian mock duck which we've ordered many times in the past but this time the flavorful sauce was not there at all. I'm sorry to give this review but we were very disappointed this time.
Usually a wonderful spot w a great view. The view though was the highlight. Our server was good but he seemed to lack help. There were a lot of employees walking around the tables but no one but him asked us how we were doing or if we needed anything. We were given the wrong appetizer (I think was supposed to go to another table bc we had literally just placed our order) after about 10 min we flagged him down to tell him it wasn't ours. He was great but def didn't have support from the other staff milling about.
First time here, googled some food places and this popped up so we wanted to try..
They are right by the water, plenty of parking onsite...you can sit indoors or outdoors...very nice decor inside..Staff was nice, we ordered curry puffs..that was good....and drunkman noodles( they were not good at all, no seasoning, barely any sauce).
