Person on their phone and complaining about being being the only one there. Waited 13 minutes for a latte and it was a very slow day.

Just had one of worst experiences at BJ's Islandia. I was racially profiled by an employee, an older white male, who is stationed at the exit to check receipts. I am an African American female, who purchased 17 items: baby formula, paper towels, toddler pajamas, socks etc... This employee individually picked up the items in my cart one by one then asked me how many socks do you have? I said, are you serious? he said "you know these cashiers mess up all the time, and this cashier is known to mess up, I'm just checking." I observed this particular employee conduct a brief glimpse of the items in the previous shopping carts with no issues. When it came to me there was a thorough inspection. I asked him do you think I came to BJ's to steal socks? I was so disgusted, and annoyed, this man should be fired.

The store and pricing are fine. I've been to this one for a few years but now they have some crazy lady (middle aged, bad blond dye job, no fashion sense) in loss prevention following people to an extreme. She sees my purple hair and figures I must be lifting something so she follows me around and I ignore her but she's way too obvious and becoming annoying. Later she watches me scan every item and I still ignore her but I can see her from the corner of my eye. I look straight at her and she quickly looks away. When I'm done scanning and paying she goes to the loss prevention office, giving one last glance at me as I'm again looking right at her. I asked the cashier at self checkout if she's loss prevention and she says yes and she's a manager. I mentioned how she was acting over the top and the cashier laughed and agreed. I knocked on the door for her office and showed her my ID (my job is the one that responds when they actually have someone to arrest) and explain she needs to be less obvious and offensive but she flat out denies following me. Another customer said he noticed her following me as well and another employee said she's over the top as well. BJ's you need to calm this woman down because she's offensive. Loss prevention needs to be the oblivious not obvious. Oh BTW, peroxide-misinformed woman, you might want to know the front door person stopped an old man in front of me for trying to leave with two dozen eggs and he only had 4 items! Maybe they need to be in loss preventing instead. SMH

I really like this BJs location. It gets busy during the same typical hours as any other, but that's no fault of the store. There's always enough staff around. I LOVE that they have self-checkout. There's 5 self-checkouts in total and any time I've gone, they've all been open and operating. I also always find what I'm looking for here. My one gripe is that BJ's (their Wellsley Farms brand) seems to be more expensive than Costco for some items. Would be nice if I could had all my shopping done in one place.

Wasn't always a BJ fan, but my husband started going because it was closer than Costcos. I've learned to love it. Also, they have lots of Perk programs that really help give you a bang for your buck! You can save your spendable cash or use it as you get it. The cashier tells you at checkout which is always a wonderful surprise. They are doing more tastings of product which is nice. I think that's what spoiled me about Costcos. Try BJS out, see what you think.

Manager got very nasty with me on a recent visit . Item I was purchasing was marked wrong. Sign clearly said &9.99 when brought to register it rang up as 20.99 . I explained to her that there was a full display of this item marked 9.99 she looked at display. Yanked price off of it. Than commented "somebody must have switched the price tag " and abruptly walked away ! My cashier remained calm and polite but looked embarrassed . Lisa is a rude manager !
