Charlie’s Legendary Hot Dogs truly lives up to its name. The three hot dog special I had for lunch was a masterclass in flavor and variety. The first hot dog with sauerkraut, mustard, and ketchup was a classic delight, while the second with cheese and onion sauce was rich and satisfying. The third, topped with chili, cheese sauce, and bacon, was an indulgent treat. Paired with chips and a soda for $14.00. The employees working inside are delight to talk to, and will tell you stories of the truck. I Highly recommended!

I often had lunch at the old location. The best hot dog hero I ever had. I often had mustard, sourkraurt, and those home made onions. But I did try the chili and cheese. No matter what my choice of toppings, the meal was always delicious. If you live or work in the Islip area you probablystop by the stand regularly. If you visit Suffolk or Nassau counties, no matter where your staying, Charlie’s is worth a visit. Charlie’s is truly a Long Island landmark.

I started going to Charlie's Hot Dogs when it was on North Spur Dr. Around 1982. I fell in Love with the homemade cheese sauce! I am so extremely happy that they are back and as delicious as ever! My Mom gets the hot dog with everything and relish which isn't an option in the recommended dishes so she asked me to add this sentence.

I have been craving (Dirty water dog's) for a while now but there are no longer any trucks around. Today I google Hot dog trucks near me and a few came up Charlie's being one of them, after reading about them I chose to drive almost 30 mins to Charlie's, the pictures all looked good and there story on how longbin business and they were once in Brentwood which I realized this is the truck I used to visit with my Mom when I was 5 years old until they moved. I was more then happy when I pulled up to a nice well taken care of truck, 2 lovely ladies that I could easily see take pride in there business. Absolutely delicious hot dogs, even got a knight for home.. I will be back. No doubt... Thank you Ladies... P.S I hope no offense on the description (Dirty water dogs) this truck DEFINITELY did not have Dirty water, everything was and is spotless.....

Great food put out by great people- was in from out of town and haven't had a legit Sabbrett hot dog or a NY knish in over 10 years- they did not disappoint- grabbed a couple of jars of onions to go so I can make the New Englanders understand what they're missing up there-

I grew up on Spur Dr. My best friend was a relative of Charlie we even helped make the onions a few times and have fond memories of the original. When the truck first came back some years ago boasting Charlie's famous onion I had to make a trip and noticed the onions were a little off but largely the same. Today I was in the area and had to stop and as much as it saddens me these aren't Charlie's onions, they don't even resemble them in taste or texture but more closely resemble sabrett in both taste and texture with small chopped onion pieces, that distinct taste that made them famous is gone the big onions cooked down till they melted in your mouth is gone even the red color with all the flecks of seasoning gone just a drab orange like every other pre packaged hot dog topping, Charlie must be rolling in his grave....thankfully I can still make them at home the way they used to be.

Made a special trip here based on the hype. Honestly, nothing special or legendary here. Ordinary snappy Sabbrett hot dogs with standard supermarket buns. Onion Sauce was good - but no better than Sabbrett brand prepared onions. Saurekrout was draped so thinly you could count the strands (c'mon I'm from New York - and we are talking cheap cabbage here). Not worth the trip - you could stop and any roadside Dirty Water dog stand to get the same fare. I'm told the Chilli is good - Unfortunately - I will not make the trip from Melville again to try it.I'm also thinking 3.00 a dog is also rather expensive for a thin Sabbrett dog (Maybe things are just more expensive now - to me - worth no more than 2.00 each - especially based a the cheap portion sizes of the Krout/toppings). Overall dissapointed.
