I'm pretty impressed by the tacos here! As a San Diego native, we're a bunch of taco snobs so we look for good tortillas, tender and flavorful meat as well as tasty salsa. I was especially impressed by their lengua, it wasn't gamey at all. Also, it's a huge restaurant with lots of bathrooms. Service was very friendly but a little slow. But not bad at all, since the 5 of us were seated right away on a sunday afternoon.
Decent mexican food but below average for Jackson Heights. You'd think you would be wow'd by every mexican restaurant in this neighborhood but this place was definitely a bit disappointing... even though it was all filled with locals. The skirt steak plate was very meh. The guacamole was watery, there was a large splatter of beans that had no taste, and the skirt steak had a dull taste.The shrimp nacho platter was also below average. Taqueria Coatzingo has some of the best tacos in NY - big fan of their Al Pastor and Lengua tacos in particular. All their tacos come with guac and are piled high with meatIn general - the portions are generous, the food is great, and the people are friendly.
