I had an amazing experience at Angel with my family. The paneer was incredible and imo the best paneer in nyc. The service was also great and they were really accommodating. Our server Prathamesh was super kind and knowledgeable. We also had the amazing experience of meeting the chef and owner himself, Amritpal Singh, who happened to sit down next to us and eat with his family! We had a lovely conversation with him about his experiences and passion for cooking.
It was extra special because we were celebrating my dad’s birthday and they really made sure we had the best experience possible and also sang happy birthday and gave us some complimentary kheer.
Highly recommend the fresh lime soda, pani puri, samosa chaat, kadai paneer, and paneer kulcha! Will definitely be back soon.

Very bad
It's not a very big restaurant, no fancy tablecloths or decorations, it just serves great food at reasonable prices, which is the reason it is always packed. It's almost impossible to get a table without a reservation, but they have nonstop takeouts as well.
Meh! Came here with really high hopes given how much love Vikas Khanna has for this place. Everything we ordered was missing salt. The biryani we ordered, we were warned is 9/10 on spices, was so bland. And very impatient server.

Deceptive cancellation practices.
I am extremely disappointed with the lack of transparency at this establishment. I booked a table via Resy but had to cancel. I called the restaurant 3 hours in advance to do the responsible thing. I spoke to a staff member who processed the cancellation but never once mentioned that I would still be charged a cancellation fee. I only found out when I saw the charge on my card later. If I had been informed during the call, I might have made different arrangements. Hiding fees during a direct conversation is unprofessional and feels deceptive. It feels like they purposely hid the information to ensure they got the fee. Poor business ethics.
Update - Management replied to my complaint. They admitted their system allows them to refund, but they refused to do so. Worse, they explicitly stated that their staff is not required to tell you about fees when you call them. They admitted they hide behind the fine print rather than being honest on the phone. Avoid this place—they care more about trapping you in fees than providing hospitality
The food was good and the portions were generous. The servers were very friendly and helpful, though we did feel rushed during the meal despite the restaurant not being full.
I’ve had lots of Indian food and there are so many options in Jackson heights alone so I’d eat here but wouldn’t wait in line for a table.

I'm writing this review about a year and a half later, but I still think about this meal! We showed up right around closing time, and while they were shutting down the kitchen and couldn't let us dine in, they were kind enough to take our to-go order. We ended up eating in a nearby Taco Bell parking lot, and honestly? It was still one of the best Indian meals I've had. The Paneer Khurchan was absolutely awesome - so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The food was so good that it didn't matter where we ate it. Highly recommend this place, just maybe get there a bit earlier than we did!

Absolutely outstanding. This was my first visit since their relocation, and it’s remarkable to see how much they’ve grown. Their success is truly well-deserved. I hope they never change.

I recently visited Angel Restaurant in New York, and I finally understand why my brother always praises this place. The food was absolutely amazing — truly some of the best Indian cuisine I’ve tasted anywhere in the United States. Every dish was rich in flavor, fresh, and beautifully prepared.
One area that definitely needs improvement is the service. The servers need to be more attentive, and it would help if they understood the basics of first come, first serve. There were moments where the service felt slow and a bit unorganized.
That said, the quality of the food easily stands out, and I genuinely hope they work on the service aspect because this place has so much potential. If they improve that, Angel Restaurant could easily be unbeatable.
Overall, I’d still recommend it for the delicious food, and I’m glad I finally got the chance to try it!

The place is pretty small, so you end up sitting really close to other tables, almost shoulder-to-shoulder. It’s not the most comfortable setup, and you can feel staff constantly walking by and clearing plates, which makes the meal feel a bit rushed.
The food, though, is genuinely great. The flavors are rich, the mango lassi was perfect, and the tikka masala and naan were both really good. Everything looked fresh and plated nicely.
I took a star off because of the atmosphere, but I’d still order from them again, just as takeout next time. I wish the space was a little bigger so the dining experience matched how good the food is.
