It honestly pains me to write this. I used to love coming here. I grew up on this place, it was always packed, often with a line out the door. Sadly, those days are long gone, and it’s now obvious why. The quality has gone way downhill. The chicken portions are noticeably smaller, but that’s not even the worst part. What really shocked me was how I was treated when trying to make a simple, health-conscious request. I attempted to order two white meat meals, as both my mother and I have cholesterol issues and cannot eat dark meat. I was told I had to order a mix of white and dark meat, that they “don’t allow” two white meat meals. Even after explaining the health concerns, they still refused. The only “solution” offered was to buy a half chicken (with dark meat we can’t eat) and then purchase an additional quarter white meat. On top of that, they tried to charge me an extra $3 for it. Being told what I can and cannot order especially when it relates to a health issue is absurd. And trying to sneak in extra charges for a workaround that they forced on me? That’s just bad business. This place has lost its heart and its standards. If you’re thinking about coming here …don’t. There are far better spots that actually care about their customers

Sadly the chicken has severely declined in size, and crispiness. Not sure what’s going on with the Chef or management. I’d come here for years. I think it’ll be the last time buying here. Tried to give it one last try. It’s not worth it anymore.

I don't live in NY, but every time I come, I've eaten here, for the last 12 years or so. It was an obligatory stop, even if I was going to stay just for the weekend, however, I was very disappointed with my last visit. The food tastes nothing like before. It's bland, and replaceable with any other Chinese restaurant. The distinct flavor they used to have is gone. And the chicken now tastes and looks EXACTLY like Walmart's rotisserie chicken. I don't know what they did, but it's a major screw up.
Well, at least now I won't have to spend 3 hours on the subway going to Queens anymore.

This place has withstood the test of time. I came here when it first opened over 30 years ago. I highly recommend getting the NO. 7 Chicken & Spare Ribs. As a young man, I would always get it with French fries. Older and possibly wiser, rice and beans are the way to go. Don't let the simple and austere atmosphere confuse you, the menu may seem basic, but the flavors are rich and savory.
Make sure to bring cash, they don't accept credit cards.
Chicken is expensive and the breast is dry and the service is terrible!!! Not worth it…

TERRIBLE SERVICE!! Sure, the food is somewhat alright, however, the cashier with the glasses and mustache is extremely disrespectful. My mother had gotten an extraction so she wasn't able to speak as loud enough. As she ordered the cashier looked at the cooks that were behind him and said "bring in a microphone here!". There was no need for such a comment, we merely wanted to enjoy our food but NO. TERRIBLE service! Instead of eating here, you'd have better chances of having a nice meal somewhere else.
