As a family, we’ve had chicken and beef Philly Cheese Steaks since we were teens. I don’t know how they’ve kept it consistent for over 20 years. We are life time customers and always visit whenever we go to NYC. Canada has nothing that matches this place.
The 179 Deli is a local spot in my neighborhood. I grew up near Hillside Avenue and Jamaica Estates. As a kid, I often went there for candy and chips. I think the owners are likely Yemeni. I love this place – the people are friendly and the service is great.
I always enjoy getting sandwiches here. Breakfast sandwiches, Deli sandwiches,you name it, they are responsible for my weight gain and the Dr. Screaming at me about it. The place is clean,the food is handled with care, and the guys are nice. It gets packed real quick around lunchtime though. I recommend the Money Haze sandwich.
