The food has changed not for the better I use to eat here with my parents when I was younger they new the owner like most older people in the area did the food was great now not so much the peach cobbler was so bland like they forgot to put sugar in it that was the worst peach cobbler I’ve ever had in my life omg the fish smells so bad it deterred me from eating it, is this stuff fresh or even washed? I never smelled cooked fish that smells worse than a fish market and it was only one order, they need to do better whoever is cooking this stuff it’s not it my mans the Bbq chicken noooo flavor like they baked unseasoned chicken and put some sauce on it no pride in the way this is made the worst meal ever when y’all use to be the best very disappointing and disgusting won’t waste my money here anymore.

My go to for soul food, I've recommended this place to all my friends. There portions are worth every penny!! You will not be disappointed. I do find that there is an inconsistency about there food. Some days it's amazing but other days it's just good. Like they need to keep the one great cook. Cornbread is not the best by any means. It's a definitely hole in the wall type of place, a staple in the community for a long time, I'm glad it's here.

No bad comments. Try the food for yourselves. Everyone taste buds are different. It's soul food but in my opinion it can be a little more flavorful but the food is tolerable to eat. I taste better.
It is entirely too much sugar in most of their dishes. Collard greens should not taste like candy canes. I tried the chopped barbecue. It was sugar in that. Candid yams was cooked with entirely too much sugar. Sugar cannot be a substitute for good quality spices. Plus you're in a neighborhood where diabetes is prevalent. Please lighten up on the sugar.

This place seems to be a hit or miss. The first time I tried them, the collard greens were not properly seasoned, the mac and cheese was also flavorless, the fish was just eh. I decided to try again because my sister had ordered some pork ribs and she said everything was really good. So I tried them again and I was really impressed with the difference. The green beans were nicely seasoned, the mac and cheese was good, corn bread could have been better, but the fried chicken and bbq pork ribs were fantastic. So I'm giving a three based on the average of both experiences. I hope they can consistently deliver good food.

Food Quality has gone down . Recently ordered via UBER the food was tasteless. They no longer use whole green beans they were canned and the mashed potatoes were instant not the RED MASHED they served in the past. The Turkey WING was missing the TIP and the gravy on it was tasteless, bumpy brown and should have been put on the side incase the patron doesn't like WET FOOD. It seemed to be from the can . The Turkey appeared to be pressure cooked and lacked overall flavor. I threw the food in the garbage!

Smothered turkey wings taste Ike it was old had been there awhile. I usually get them but this time not good. Chef should have tasted it. Should be fresh whatever it is that is put out on hot steamer.will try again . Owner should read this. Brought it yesterday.9/2/22

So sad to give this unsavory review but I was highly disappointed. Maybe years ago this place had good food but today was not tasty at all. We had especially debated over different places that were a little pricey. Now I regret not paying the extra money. My husband had eaten here in the past & was somewhat satisfied or just plain ole hungry, as men visually are. Anyhow we came to this place very ready to eat. Walk in and we're the second customers not packed at all. That should hve been a sign right there. I dont know if it's the culture or what but servers were stiff faced no smiles, no greeting. ? So I tried to make my questions short so as to avoid any arguments of you asking too many questions just order & leave which shouldn't be the case..I inquired about mixing the 2 Turkey wing flavors which I could so I ordered smothered & hickory style wings asking for smothered gravy on rice with cabbage. I then get side orders. I see the mac & cheese which was not infused with cheese at all, only on top. I knew that was a disaster but gave it go with greens. Also took peach cobbler that appeared to look like it was really good. Side bar had Peach cobbler in PA Tuesday it was delishes from a mom & pop store. So I expected the same...Wrong!! No taste just peaches not flavored & crust unsalted, sugared, etc. My food had no distinctive taste so I cant even tell you what flavors ran thru my palate. Everything was bland. Fifty something dollars & today we forced ourselves to eat some & discarded the rest. Love supporting black owned businesses but wasting my hard earned money. Will not return or recommend. Hubby's food was the same no flavor, just bland. Dont mean to hurt your business but add cheese & whatever else is needed.
