One of the best salads I have ever eaten. Very extremely charming and lovely wait staff. Architecturally a little bit odd: many hard surfaces make this place louder than it needs to be. I will be returning.

We had an outstanding dinner tonight. We drove from NYC and it was the best meal we've had upstate. Shrimp burger, waguy beef, croquettes, chicke....all was incredible.

Outstanding experience. Strong kitchen team, and a front of house ready to make sure you are happy from the moment you enter the door until the time you reluctantly leave.

I came here with a group of 10 friends to celebrate an birthday and it was one of the best experiences of my life. From the drinks, to the food, to the atmosphere. The staff were incredibly hospitable and lovely. The food is creative and the drinks were top notch. I’ll be taking about it for weeks and months to come.

Kinderhook is a real gem of a town, and the entire restaurant/ art collective that houses The Aviary, Morningbird, and The Nest is a standout.
I enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner at The Aviary and was floored by the hospitality, gorgeous interior design, inventive cocktails, and delicious food with beautiful plating. I have been recommending the entire collective to loved ones and I hope they're around for a long time to come!

In a beautiful space, we had amazing appetizers (the potato croquette and the asparagus)and dessert (flan fused with chocolate cake), but the main course was just good, almost average. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. But what i really disliked was that our main course was brought out while we were still eating appetizers. I hope that the staff rectified this problem because the Aviary would be worth a visit.

Kadrian is an amazing hostess, and the food is inventive and delicious. Superb wine list and expert cocktails. Becca ran the room like a pro.

We sat in the back room, which had a nice romantic vibe with moody tones. The food was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Really great Asian fusion dishes that my wife and I really enjoyed.

The Apiary offers an excellent dining experience in every regard. In the tourist driven HV, restaurants tend to be pricey and maddeningly mediocre. Not so with the Apiary. It’s SE Asian (ish) cuisine is innovative and exciting- definitely one of the bolder restaurant endeavors in our area. Do not pass on the small plates and outstanding cocktails. Service is both professional and friendly. The contemporary space is understated and elegant. Be a little daring and break away from the Instagram lemmings- you will be glad you did!

My partner and I have been to the Aviary many times and we are always excited at the prospect of going again. Last night we had an absolutely lovely day-after-Valentine’s dinner there. Cocktails, appetizers, mains, all fabulous. At first I was disappointed that the fantastic steelhead trout I had there recently wasn’t on the menu, but the short ribs were a terrific alternative. Nick serves a wonderful cocktail and, at this point, he even knows what we like. We enjoyed being in the nest and appreciated that the staff agreed to seat us side-by-side so we both had a view of that beautiful room. Service was excellent, as we have come to expect. No photos, b/c I left my phone at home so as to just be there. Thanks, all.

I can't say enough good things about the food. The sweet and spicy chicken dinner for two is a perfect split. A good balance of protein, veggies and rice. A true delight.

Yet another example of an outsider coming to a lovely place and trying to change it into the place they came from. Wildly overpriced and of average quality at best. The aviary excludes the vast majority of locals who couldn’t afford to eat here if they wanted to. Fortunately they don’t because they have common sense. You are the Lenny from Of Mice and Men to Columbia county’s mouse. Put it down and let it be what it is. That’s what drew you here in the first place.

Lovely venue - its a lofty open space with hard floors so it does get noisy easily- service was attentive - food portions were very small and most courses were flavourless and lacked originality -eg one course was a bowl of tasteless tomatoes with tough skins- the pork was tough and tasteless - i have been to a few of these farm to table type restaurants and there is a tendency to produce plain food so the flavour of the ingredients shines through but on this particular occasion there was just no flavour sadly - came away disappointed and hungry!
