I came here during my Office-Severance tour, and it was very cool to see a filming location from Severance. The food was tasty and the staff were kind.

My partner Justin and I went to Eng's as part of our Severance-filming-location trip. We actually got there way too early and stuck around the area, checking out little shops for hours before they opened and we are SO GLAD we did. We got there right when the dining room opened and were geeking out the whole time about the place - the lighting, the art that was left up in the scene in Severance, the awesome owner and waiter. It was all great. The mai tai was amazing as was the veggie lo mein and spare ribs. We can't wait to go back someday soon!! Thanks to the staff for being so kind and funny and letting us take a bunch of pictures.

Super disappointed, ordered beef chop suey, only to see about 5 or 6 pieces of beef in a pool of onion soup. Chicken fried rice tasted a little stale. Would not recommend.

I am genuinely bewildered why this place has so many glowing reviews. I tried Engs in May of 2025. My wife and I got General Tso chicken, chicken with broccoli and a few egg rolls. The egg rolls were obviously mass produced and frozen. The entrees were so dull and tasteless I needed to add hot sauce just to taste something. The chicken in the General Tso was 90% breading and served in a bath of high fructose corn syrup. The chicken with broccoli was tough and chewy, definitely not velveted properly. We got the food takeout and the service inside was fine.
In Kingston there are several Chinese food places, and most of them are better than Eng's.

Went for the buffet, limited choices, food was overcooked, dessert choice were not appetizing and very limited. Service and friendly. Will not return

Very old-school. A carafe of tea dropped on the table without us asking, very kind and generous. Wonderful wait staff.
Unfortunately, that vintage style includes the menu. Very heavy on the sodium and starch in all the sauces. Fried rice doused in soy sauce to give it a dark color instead of using aromatics and letting it crisp up in the pan. Limited variation in the vegetarian section.
That being said... I would love to go for just cocktails, as their menu looks to have all the old school drinks in fancy drink ware.

Eng's has been open for years and has never changed the quality of their product.

Been going here for 35 years and so happy that they've reopened.
I've had BBQ'd spareribs all over the country and have yet to find
better than Engs..Staples like egg rolls, fried rice, egg foo yung, and most meat entrees are spot on. Wonderful family business, and a must for Kingston visitors.

My girlfriend and I have been dying to eat at Engs for several years. We're not from the area but we like to take day trips to the Catskills, so when we first ran into Engs we knew it would be a destination for us. Unfortunately the dining room had been closed since Covid.
Much to our delight, we noticed on a recent trip in January that the dining room was reopening. However, it isn't open everyday and it was going to be hard to get there.
This past weekend, Mother's day, we happened to be in the area. It was getting late and close to their closing time, so I called ahead to see if we could dine in. As a chef, I hate being the last table of the night as I know how inconvenient that can be for a tired staff. They encouraged us to come in and were so kind to wait for us.
When we arrived they had a table set and waiting for us. The entire staff was so friendly and welcoming.
The ambience of the restaurant is so warm. It takes you back to time of my childhood where dine in Chinese restaurants were so much more common. We absolutely loved the feel of stepping back in time.
The food did not disappoint. We had maybe the best wonton soup I've ever had, followed by boneless spareribs, egg rolls, chicken chop suey and pork lo mein. It was all prepared so fast and absolutely delicious.
Though we were in very late, we were not rushed at all. The owners treated us as such special guest. Absolutely amazing people. Great food. Beautiful place. We loved all of it.
I can only hope this place lives on forever. Thank you!

My family of 5 got takeout last night and all ended up with food poisoning. The food tasted old and was like soup. WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN. HORRIBLE

Appears as Zufu, where Helena approached Mark after his reintegration binge eating, in S2E6 of Severance
Engs is an institution. The food is good, the service is super friendly, and the prices are very affordable. There's no wonder they've been around for almost a hundred years! I do hope the dining room will be able to open again in the future as it's quite special

Stopped in for impromptu take out this evening and I am so glad we did. I’ve had roughly 20 years of eating Chinese food all over the USA. Coast to coast. Florida to Canada. I can’t remember a better tasting meal, nicer atmosphere or better service anywhere.
The hostess was courteous and made suggestions even while serving other take out customers who had called ahead, and we could barely decide what to try since from the moment you walk into Eng’s you get the feeling everything is going to be good.
We went with personal favorites, and the owner Tom Sit brought the food out soon after we ordered. We heard about how the pandemic had forced their table service to abruptly end, and how difficult it was to restart. We spoke of loyalty and of passion for cooking and providing quality food for the community. I saw a man dedicated to his craft and business and I hope his restaurant finds the support it needs to thrive.
The food was stellar, the flavor unparalleled, and the quality of cooking was excellent. The meat was very tender, the noodles were perfect, the rice was flavorful. The egg rolls are home made and absolutely decadent. There are no photos in this review because the delicious aroma of the meal beckoned us to eat it immediately.
I feel good after eating the food from Eng’s kitchen. My belly is satisfied and light but my wallet still feels heavy! We’ll be back, we’ll bring friends, and we hope to eat in the beautiful dining room one day soon. Thank you for a great meal and experience.
