We were passing through the area coming from south Jersey and decided to stop in. The atmosphere was welcoming and really awesome. It is tastefully decorated inside i really liked it. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. When we were seated we were brought out hot tea and crackers which I was not expecting but it was really nice. The waitress was helpful with recommendations. The food came out surprisingly fast. All of the food we got was excellent and very reasonably priced for what you get. We tried the chicken lo mein, chicken chow mein, and chicken and broccoli as well as fried rice and of course egg rolls. Nothing bad to say about any of it. If you’re looking for a filling meal at a place that is comfortable and friendly, I highly recommend trying out Engs. Wish we were here on a smorgasbord day! If we’re ever in the area again we will be sure to stop by again!

This place is amazing and delicious. Establishments like this are few and far between these days. A proper old school Chinese restaurant and institution of classic Americana. They care enough to make their egg rolls in-house. The decor is perfect, and the building and signage is utterly charming. There’s a reason they were scouted to feature in a hit TV show (known for its cinematography, might I add).
All of the bad reviews saying the food is tasteless have had their palettes conditioned by Chinese takeout that all basically comes from a distribution center and loaded with sugar and flavor enhancers that you can’t pronounce. That’s why the sauces all taste the same and an egg roll tastes identical in Minnesota or Connecticut.
Keep doing what you’re doing Eng’s. You’re a gem.

This place is a monument to American Chinese food. If you grew up in the 60s-80s, this is just how you remember it. The decor, food, drinks in tiki glasses. Going to be back often and bringing friends with me
Update: Went on jazz night. Great atmosphere! Also tried the egg rolls this time. Best egg rolls I’ve ever had. I think they must make them in-house. Experience was even better than the last time.

This was some of the best Chinese food I had to date and worth the drive up from Pennsylvania to try out.
We had the Wonton Soup with Pork, PuPu platter for 2, the ribs, orange chicken/beef special and ice cream for dessert, I had a scoup of coconut which had real flakes in the ice cream and coffee which was very flavorful. My friend had the blueberry cheese cake ice cream which he raved about. The Mai Tai was amazing also.
Service was very friendly and attentive, they may be slightly understaffed. I enjoyed the classic appearance of the interior, very old school and I loved it.
I will be back!

I'm going to give them another chance. My experience was underwhelming. General chicken was dry, tough snd stringy. People are nice. But, like I said, I want to give them another chance.

I love Eng's!!! Best Chinese food in Kingston. I grab it after training across the road at Midtown Jiu Jitsu and I always look forward to saying hi to the folk that work here. They are always happy to see you.

Amazing sit down with live music some nights and all you can eat other nights. Takes reservations for large parties but also has dedicated tables for walk in.

I had been looking forward to visiting Eng's for a while, and it was exactly what I'd expected and hoped for. The interior has the feel you'd want from an historic restaurant - it has a lot of character and authenticity, versus the samey, rather dull look of many contemporary restaurants. It feels like a place that has been around for decades because it has, and that's perfect.
Our food was also good. The sauces were a bit syrupy but still tasted nice, the portion sizes were just right, and in an age when eating out can be very expensive, the prices at Eng's felt very reasonable for what you get. This place doesn't have the vibe of a high-end boutique restaurant, but it doesn't charge you that price either, and still delivers quality. It's not always easy to find that.
If you're someone who appreciates restaurants that still have a local and distinctive presence with an unpretentious but well-kept atmosphere, and good food for affordable prices, Eng's is worth visiting. I know I'm looking forward to going back again.

Fun old fashioned place and the food was good! The Egg Foo Yung and Cantonese Steak with broccoli were especially good! Prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge! Very friendly staff! (Just a little bit slow and server didn't know how several dishes were made and we ordered the chop suey but didn't get the dish). We'll definitely be back when we're next in town.

I came here during my Office-Severance tour, and it was very cool to see a filming location from Severance. The food was tasty and the staff were kind.
