Our group ordered a verity of smoked meats. Almost every person said their meat was very dry. Some even said it was overcooked or over smoked.
I had the ribs. They were dry. I needed to add lots of bbq sauce to moisten them up. I would not order the ribs again. I would probably never return to this restaurant.
The service was okay.
Don’t expect too much from this place and you’ll be fine. Brisket and ribs were a bit dry, and the chicken was only ok. Sides were a little better but the onion rings and fries were greasy.
Overall it’s bbq if you want bbq but it’s not great bbq.
If their area I would definitely recommend this place if your looking for
Long waiting, my sandwich had lot onions little meat.
5/10 bbq
Authentic smokehouse/BBQ joint. Fried calamari appetizer was large sized, fresh and served with a spicy, tangy cocktail sauce. The ribs were meaty, full of smokey goodness and served with plentiful portions of sides like slaw and shoestring fries. I appreciated the variety of condiments on the table, like sweet, spicy, and Carolina sauce. My wife's burger was big and perfectly cooked. The beer, wine, and mixed drinks menu was full of options to suit any taste. We're going back soon to try the brisket, which looked amazing.
The cobb salad is really good, the ribs are good, and the pulled pork is good. However, the last few times we've gone the things you'd think would be good were downright bad. The brisket was tough and likely a few days old. The fries were so overcooked they were rock hard and inedible. Considering they are one of the only places that serves BBQ in the area, I guess they can afford to be mediocre. It's disappointing.
Excellent BBQ!! Their homemade pickles were amazing, and both their BBQ baked beans and ribs were cooked perfectly.

We chose to work with Steve and Hickory BBQ for our wedding caterer in the Hudson Valley. They were absolutely amazing to work with and a very cost friendly option, especially for an open bar and robust food menu. They made our fall barbecue dreams come true!!
Our spread came buffet style and we chose to serve ribs, prime roast, and a salmon. We had so many compliments that people absolutely loved the food, especially the salmon and sweet potatoes. We truly had so many options to choose from for cocktail hour and dinner.
The bartenders and staff were great. They made a great signature cocktail for us and worked especially hard when there was a big rush for drinks during our cocktail hour. Although Hickory had great dessert options, we did want to bring in some homemade desserts from family members and their team easily accommodated it.
Steve was also great to work with in advance as we didn’t quite know what we were getting into with a DIY style wedding. He recommended great vendors, so we could have all the barware and essentials needed for serve 165 people. We also stopped in the restaurant beforehand to try all our menu options, which I highly recommend as it got us really excited for the big day and our chosen spread. Highly recommend Hickory BBQ as one of the top catering vendors to work with in the Hudson Valley if you want something different than many of the farm to table options available in the area. We’re excited to come back as a married couple next time we are in Kingston!

Have been there twice and both times the food was delicious, though admittedly the brisket was better the first time, but the ribs were excellent both times. Simple decor and atmosphere with great service and yummy food. Side note - I worked in the restaurant industry for years and was particularly impressed by the young busser who was very attentive and thorough. My new favorite local BBQ place.

So good! We stopped by last minute yesterday and it was filling and delicious!
Went here on a Saturday afternoon but was terribly disappointed after reading reviews. The service was actually the worse I've ever experienced. Once the server came to bring us the menus I asked what soup they had, she answered that she didn't know and would go find out. We waited probably 10 mins for her to return. I order a small beef barley my wife ordered chicken sandwich. We waited 25 minutes for our food to be served. My soup was in a coffee cup and was cold and very obviously canned soup. My wife chicken was so dry she couldn't finish it. We had to ask our server for silverware as she hadn't given us any this took another 5 minutes while we waited to eat the food in front of us. We saw two tables having to trade their platters with each other because they were served the wrong platter.Once we finished we asked for the check we didn't see her again for 10 mins. We spent over an hour there just ordering a sandwich and a soup. While there we witnessed two different table get up and walk out because no-one waited on them after they were seated. It would appear, after reading the reviews that we hit this on the wrong day but our experience was horrible. We will never go back there.
