Food was not good, steak not properly cooked, tasted like they microwaved it then put it on a grill for char marks. Sat for almost 15 minutes when we first got there before a waitress came over to welcome us and take a drink order. Room was noisy, air conditioning was blowing hard on your back as you sat at the table making it uncomfortable, will not be going back.

Food was good , had many options to choose from. Server was great. Cute place. Town is nice but had 2 mins left before 6pm thought we would be ok and we received a $25 parking ticket. They were just waiting for us, :/

Delicious food, good drinks, well worth the money. Cozy ambience with fireplaces in all rooms. Great service!

Went for lunch, had a great experience. I can see how when it's busier at night, it could get loud. The food was great quality and the pricing was reasonable for lunch.

We sat at the booth next to the fireplace, the perfect setting for a delicious lunch with our besties on a cold winter's day. Our waitress was lovely, and made us feel right at home.

Beautiful old stone house pre-revolutionary with fireplaces in all the rooms. Food is very good. I had chicken piccata which I thought was a little gloppy but in the past I've had the London broil with mushroom sauce and it was delicious. It comes with salad and potato of your choice. Service is always very good! Lovely and delicious dinner. Prices are very reasonable.

Very busy Saturday night and wait staff did a good job. It was our 33rd anniversary as was submitted with reservation and it was forgotten by staff. Also we requested table for 2 in front of the fireplace but were seated in a corner. It was ok but the table for 2 was left empty all night. The roast duckling was excellent but the orange sauce was very amateurish, unlike a year previous which showcased the chef's skill with a cranberry-orange-brandy sauce. Our other dinner was the seafood assortment and was great. However an appetizer of steamer clams earlier must have had a bad clam, since one of us had major GI track issues later.

The Hoffman House is in a charming historic building. The food was excellent, especially the French onion soup. Service was very good. Highly recommend.

This was visit number 2 in a month. Both visits were excessively loud and the place was crowded. The duck cooked nicely and had good flavor but the mashed potatoes were dehydrated and doctored to have texture like mashed. Nachos first visit had guacamole and avocado but the second visit lacked avocado and guacamole on the nachos ewwww! Salads were fresh and crunchy. Super loud and crowded both times.

The food was very good and well-priced. I ordered salmon, which was cooked med-rare, as I requested. Husband had coconut chicken with twice-baked potatoes.l0portions were large. My only complaint was that the room had no atmosphere. Although we sat by a glorious fire and there were nice LED table lights, the room chandelier was so bright that it ruined the ambience. Felt like a diner. Of they put low-wattage lighting in the current fixture, and lit up tables individually problem solved.

It was my husband’s 60th birthday, and after a lot of research, we chose this restaurant because of its high ratings. We drove two hours to get there. We ordered coconut shrimp as an appetizer, but my husband said the taste was off, so he didn’t eat it. I added lemon juice, but I still couldn’t taste much.

I ordered lamb, and the waitress asked how I wanted it cooked. I requested medium-rare. My husband ordered a turkey burger. When the salad arrived, it was disappointing—the greens looked like they’d been sitting in the refrigerator for a few days, and the cherry tomatoes were rotten. I told the waitress, and she offered to replace it, but I declined since I saw similar salads at other tables.

After quite a long wait, our main courses arrived. My lamb was overcooked, and my husband’s turkey burger was cold. I was extremely disappointed, especially given that it was such a special occasion. The waitress offered to bring me a new lamb, but I didn’t want to make the day worse, so I declined.

While we were discussing the food, a man approached our table and introduced himself as the owner. He talked nonstop, causing our food to get colder, and we lost what little appetite we had left. In the end, we sent both plates back and asked for the check.

When the check arrived, there was a 15% discount. I told the owner it was my husband’s birthday, but he didn’t even say “Happy Birthday.” We tried to explain our issues with the food, but none of the excuses were satisfying.

I truly believe the Hoffman House doesn’t deserve its high ratings, given the poor quality of the food and the disappointing customer service.
