We were in Kingston,NY for the weekend and came across this quaint bookstore. I was so nice to walk in and have some beautiful handpicked books at your fingertips. Would definitely plan another trip in the spring for a coffee and a cozy seat

The perfect bookstore, with great beers and coffee
Came in on a dreary Sunday and spent hours browsing, reading and drinking coffee- ideal! Really well curated shop, cozy space and great vibes. Could have stayed all day! Bought 3 books but would probably read everything in the store.

Came in to get a flat white to go and was stunned by how cozy this place was. I did not want to leave! The coffee was very good, and I will definitely come back to stay and read a while.

A must go to stop for anyone in the area. The location is beautiful, with an inviting interior and historic exterior. A great selection of books and drinks to choose from.

I ordered a latte and it was just milk, very little coffee flavor. Staff was not extremely welcoming. One of our drinks was wrong and instead of just remaking the proper drink, he questioned whether we ordered it right to begin with and to his suprise we were correct. The creamer was empty for coffee.

Our recent weekend adventure was spent in Kingston, NY. I’ve been following a bunch of places on Instagram so we decided to do an overnight and try to do as much as we could. First stop was Rough Draft. First of all … the name is BRILLIANT! As a writer and book lover, I was squealing over this play on words! It’s this beautiful bookstore with cozy places to sit and relax and also a coffee shop/bar nestled into the original Kingston Academy building built in 1774 (that is, if I read the landmark sign out front correctly). Exposed beams in the ceiling, old brick and stone on the walls … so simply done but so rich in history and beauty. We walked in not knowing what to expect and there was a long line at the counter. We were quickly greeted by a barista/bartender asking if anyone wanted snacks, drip coffee, or beer to step out of line so we grabbed a couple bar stools and placed our order. The beer was local and delicious and we just sat and chatted, taking in all the bustling around us. It was so neat to sit next to people drinking coffee, espresso and lattes, beers and bond over books! I love this concept! We finished our beer, walked around the bookstore and headed to the next stop. When we return to Kingston, this will be my first stop again when we can stay longer! Highly recommend a visit here!

Best specialty latte I’ve had in a long time! Wanted to try a new-to-me local spot where I can work, read, or hang. Buzzy and sociable atmosphere without being too loud. Nice blend of laptoppers & real conversational humans hanging out. 10/10 recommend for your next kaffeeklatsch!

Very much felt like a hangout/meet-cute lounge in the evening. Not ideal for browsing books, but the coffee drinks were good.

Great espresso drinks. Best in a solid 25 mile radius, at least. On the weekends it’s pretty busy, so if you are looking for a quick cup, make sure you are set to just get drip. The baristas here are A1, and the special monthly drinks are unique and well thought out. Shoutout AJ, Kaylin, Josh, and Molly.
