Lovely vibes and the server Mark was delightful. An excellent addition to my romantic Christmas weekend with my husband. The price isn’t cheap but I feel the food/price/dining was very on-par with other small, unique fine-dining restaurants Ive frequented on vacation. We walked from a near-by hotel which was convenient as well.

PLEASE RUN AWAY N DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. The service was good as far as the wait for food but I can tell you as an experienced diner who always eats at pricey restaurants when on vacation the food was TERRIBLE. The pork belly/tenderloin specialty was dry n flavorless. The dirty rice that accompanied the pork was mushy n overcookedj. My wife had the beef stroganoff n that wasn’t good either. It was too salty n mushy. The price point on all the food was completely out of step with the quality. Not to mention there were two corky dogs chained up right by the kitchen eating a RAW MARROW BONE OFF THE FLOOR. Aminals do not belong in eating establishments unless it’s a seeing eye dog. I should have went with my instincts n walked out when my spidey senses started tingling. The lady complains that we ruined other diners experiences with my screaming child but yet when we walked in there was one table of a two top soo I’m not sure whose dining experience we ruined lol hahahaha. Concentrate on getting your food in order rather than worry about responding to Google reviews. Take the criticism cause it’s obvious you need it being that it was a Saturday night at 6pm n not a soul was in the whole place. N my beautiful baby only screamed when he hit his head on the table because you couldn’t give me a high chair n the waiter at the view said he was very well behaved but maybe it’s because THEY SUPPLIED A HIGH CHAIRN I’ll give u that the Caesar salad was ok given that it’s lettuce n Parmesan cheese. N by the way people bring their children to dinner with them. I never been to a restaurant in MY LIFE THAT didn’t have a high chair. If you didn’t want kids there that an you should have said no kids. I would have dodged the bullet n saved myself 200 dollars. Take some pointers from Salt of the earth bistro and cucina rustica because the food bill from both places was less than your bill n we got desserts n the food was outstanding.

If you want a quaint, romantic spot to wine-and-dine your sweetie, this is a great place. A bit on the expensive side, however, they have high-quality ingredients and a beautiful atmosphere. I had a fish dish, COD, and while the cod itself was mild, the whole dish was refreshing and tasty. It had pineapple and avocado, drizzled with a sort of creme fresh sauce on top of a bed of soft rice.My husband had a generous portion of a beef stroganoff dish. It was a heavier meal but totally worth it.We also enjoyed a beautiful appetizer: a generous mound of ricotta cheese, topped with pistachios and hot honey served with a warm baguette for dipping.

I am in shock at the horrible treatment we just received from the female owner. I've never written a bad review in my life but this deserves a moment of my time. Came here with my dad and his wife while on a road trip from Ottawa. The whipped ricotta was delicious but the bread was cold in the middle, obvi it was frozen but that's fine. Since I've worked in restaurants my entire life I have no problem complaining about cold food. Especially when the prices are as expensive as this. Our mains came, the ravioli, again, it was cold. My dad said it tasted good but I thought it was very bland and there was no salt on the table. The server never came back to quality check our food and after being on the road all day we were hungry so we ate it. We thought maybe the tomatoes were supposed to be served cold so my dad asked if perhaps the dish wasn't meant to be hot. To which the woman responded, "is this because we asked you to move your truck?" ??? no lady, we don't mind moving our truck which was in the way. We just didn't expect to be served cold bread and cold mains!! It was very clear that she was insinuating that we were trying to get free food by complaining. I've never in 37 years been treated so poorly by the owner of a restaurant. I feel bad for the server who works for this horrible woman who doesn't know a thing about customer service!

It is now clear why other highly rated restaurants were full but this one wasn't. The prices were very high and we're not worth the time or money. A small misunderstanding snowballed into a horrible experience. If you question or complain about anything the wife of the chef/owner berates you. Never have we experienced such distasteful customer service over anything, let alone temperature complaints.

It was ok... but just ok. It felt like a place that was trying to be upscale, but not quite making it.
Coming from the city, I’m spoiled with great food on every corner. Unfortunately for Lake Placid, all the restaurants on Mirror Lake have been disappointing. We drove past this place a few days during our time here and it was the best meal I have had in a while. The food was well seasoned and garnished, the meat was juicy and well-cooked, and the sides were amazing. Staff is extremely accommodating to dietary restrictions and the food was overall solid. Don’t waste your time or money for a view, walk down a little further for a better meal.
Vegetarian options: The chef is very creative and able to whip up a meal that’s not on the menu for you to enjoy.

6 friends dined at Purple Sage. 5 of us did not like our meals, one thought it was OK. The cod and salmon had no taste , the bolognese was mostly pasta, the chicken was overcooked. One person ordered Prosecco and sent it back because it looked and tasted very weird. The waitress asked how everything was, and we told her we didn’t like it, but she did nothing about it. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Location: slightly off the beaten track Ambiance: cozy Food: near perfection Service: very friendly This is among the top fine dining casual restaurants in Lake Placid.

Good restaurant; tasty food; not too child friendly. However, it’s one of the better restaurants in the area and I would definitely recommend.
The service was fantastic, our server Mark and the bartender in particular. The menu was interesting and varied. My wild mushroom ravioli was great. The swordfish (substitute for cod) was rated very good by both of my companions, even though they said that a flaky cod would have been a better choice for the preparation. We went for dessert, creme brule and pot au creme. Very efficient service. Attractive setting, away from the craziness of downtown.
