Phenomenal dinner. Excellent service and delicious food. I ordered their steak and was very impressed - so flavorful and cooked to perfection. Great experience!

We had the best meal of our trip here to celebrate a birthday. From the second we stepped in the door, we felt welcomed and prioritized. The wait staff was attentive and answered any and all questions we had about the menu, including a wine pairing with our entrees. Everything we had was spectacular and you could tell that they truly care about their guest’s experience. Really an amazing experience all around!

We had the vegan bread pudding and vegan Moroccan stew. Both were delicious! Both were clearly marked on the menu. We are grateful for the attention to having well crafted vegan items available and changing on a regular basis. It seems many of Lake Placid’s better dinner establishments have eliminated vegan items - thank you for having them! We will be back!

I cannot possibly say enough nice things about Salt of the Earth Bistro. We chose it for our 40th anniversary dinner and wow did it deliver! The atmosphere is warm and inviting as are all of the staff. Our server was solicitous and knowledgeable. She was enormously helpful in selecting a wine that would compliment both the roast duck with Indian spices and the aromatic boar stew. And the food…oh my goodness!!! It was simply magnificent. The spices were perfectly balanced…flavorful and spicy but not so hot as to be overwhelming. Definitely save room for dessert! Both the carrot cake and the hazelnut tart were outstanding! We will definitely be back!

It was SERENDIPITOUS moment, we arrived at your door. A 75 yr old Couple sharing a night night together arrived at your door. My wife, a long time LP resident, pulled out our house guest's Gift certificate to Salt of the Earth.. WOW, this dinner deserved praise for our giving up Camp's one night view !

Thank you Martha & Ken Knowles

The food is incredible. We had the Salmon Orzo and the pork chop, loved both! The salmon took the edge, 10/10.

Adorable restaurant with a unique and delicious take on dinner. Ordered: Roaster Beetroot Cheesecake (a starter), Duck Fritters, Pan Seared Duck Breast, and the NY Strip. Tiramisu and Oatmeal Raison cookies finished the meal. A wonderful find in Lake Placid!

Excellent flavors, don’t be afraid to try something new, the Chef is a pro. The staff were warm and very friendly, they made my small family feel special. The wine was almost as good as the dessert.

Food was creative and delicious, every course was excellent. We had 2 appetizers, the bread basket was bountiful and probably the best i'd ever had. All prices were reasonable and even considerably cheap for the portion and quality. Will be thinking about this meal for days.

We had a great dinning experience here, everything was phenomenal!!! If you're a foodie and respect well crafted food this is the place. The beetroot cheesecake appetizer was amazing never had anything like it before. We accidentally made reservations for salt of earth Michigan and they were so kind to accommodate our mistake.

Would highly recommend.

We had an absolutely amazing dinner at Salt of the Earth. We both started with the lentil soup, which had just a tiny touch of cream. Best lentil soup ever! I also had the vegan vegetable stew which was equally outstanding. My friend had the evening special which was a veal chop over risotto and green beans. The veal chop was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Mark, our waiter, was also friendly and attentive but not overly so. We finished with the mango sorbet, which was also vegan and refreshing. Highly recommend. This is a little gem owned by Andrea and Dennis. They do a spectacular job here in every way.

Unique and interesting dinner experience. Friendly and knowledgeable service, quality meals and unique home/turned restaurant atmosphere. Nice wine and cocktail selection. The port (on the dessert menu) was fantastic! I recommend the salmon. Yum! You'll need a reservation, as seating is limited.

Fifth time dining here over the last few years- always consistently great food and a really unique menu. The chef does a wonderful job keeping a menu with interesting proteins (often venison, bison, as well as usual things like salmon, beef, etc.) and also vegetarian dishes. Food is always cooked and prepared perfectly. They have a great wine menu too. Inside has a great, cozy ambiance. We never miss an opportunity to eat here while in LP!

Our food wasn’t very good tasting and there were limited options for dietary restrictions. The veggies were undercooked, the sauce was too sweet, and the portion sizes were TINY. Some of the smallest portions I’ve ever seen. Rigid limited menu with no substitutions allowed. We regret how much money we spent on a mediocre at best meal.

Incredible food and really great staff. The restaurant is located in an old historic home and is impeccably decorated. You absolutely need a reservation.
