NOT KID FRIENDLY
I would have rather spend the $400 in a restaurant where kids are allowed to simply talk and not be shushed every 30 minutes by the “manager”…terrible experience
Don’t bring your kids there for dinner
Service, food and ambiance were all really good. Pricing is nothing different from restaurants in major cities. Definitely among the best dining options in the area.
Lovely location but if you want to see the lake go before dark. The food and service were top notch. And they made it extra special by taking our picture and printing it as a little take away. Definitely recommend
I’m not sure what happened to this restaurant. I’ve been going to restaurants since 1979 in Lake Placid. This was my favorite and now it’s my least favorite. The Reuben was very strange open faced with coleslaw and the meat was like hard. It made me extremely sick I had to pull my car over into the woods. I was very ill after eating it and probably should’ve gone to urgent care, but I was not near one. The price on the menu was lower than what they charged me on all my food that I ordered. I would not recommend this restaurant anymore . The food was not good. The new boy greeter was the most pleasant person there, but the prices were changed on my receipt on everything I ordered. Extremely disappointed

Went for breakfast a couple of months ago during our stay and returned again this week when back in town. The last visit was even better thanks to the service from Nigel, who truly made our day!

The View at the Mirror Lake Inn is fabulous! The food, ambiance and service was spectacular. We enjoyed every moment. World class hospitality, thank you!
The service was exceptional and the food very good. The lobster tonnatelli was very good as was the lobster toast. Lobster bisque was very good as was the bucatini dish. The bartender didn't make a very good martini. Overall the dinner was excellent. The views of Mirror Lake were beautiful.
My wife's and I stayed at The Mirror Lake Hotel for our 45th Wedding Anniversary and booked The View for our anniversary dinner. The staff was amazing: professional, kind, knowledgeable and FUN! The service was probably the finest I've ever experienced. The food was AMAZING. The Lobster and Mushroom Toast as an appetizer was unique and DELICIOUS. The steak was PERFECT. The ambience is beautiful. What can I say. It is the finest restaurant in New York State.
Mixed reviews among our party on the View. The food was fine, but didn't match the prices. Good reviews on the pork cheek; mediocre on the salmon. Delicious dessert, but not for $18. The biggest issue was the welcome message touting the owners' commitment to sustainability, then the featured dish of Chilean sea bass, which outside of orange roughy, is just about the least sustainable fish you could serve. I'm guessing this incongruity is due to differences in ethos of the owners vs the chef, but if you're going to go with a chef that serves chilean sea bass (which admittedly guests don't have to choose if they don't wish), don't then try a sustainability message to diners as a welcome. It kind of ruined the mood (at least for one of us) for the rest of the dinner.

The chicken karrage was a wonderful appetizer, full of flavor, I would have enjoyed this as a meal. You also can never go wrong with shrimp cocktail. The entrees were okay. My husband found his gnocchi to have too much broth and far too much cracked black pepper the balance was off. The risotto chevre was good, the lemon was a bit too much, and the peas were perfect with a nice snap. For dessert we enjoyed the lemon buying and vanilla creme brulee, both were the cherry on top. Our disappointment came from the manager who stopped and spoke with older couples, yet we were skipped over. We have been staying at Mirror Lake Inn for almost 10 years every October to celebrate our Anniversary and to not be asked how our meal was, etc was a disappointment. Our server Zackary made up for it as he was very attentive, friendly, and recognized us from last year.

Beautiful interior, great service. We had the butter chicken karaage, ahi tuna tostada, venison Bolognese, and the special shrimp bucatini, side of brussel sprouts. Everything was good, though we had a few thoughts. The brussel sprout side was limitedly seasoned, would have preferred something with more added flavor than just the base brussel sprout. Old fashioned got diluted a bit too quickly due to the small ice chunks. We also noticed some of the hosts were frustrated with each other it was a bit awkward. Overall, enjoyable and tasty.

Half of our items were very good the others were average. Beautiful restaurant with good service.
My wife needed a gluten free meal and our server was incredibly knowledgeable about what selections would work for her. There were many gluten free selections to choose from. The cauliflower-parsnip potage, filet of beef and creme brulee were all perfectly prepared and delicious! Our server (Stacy) did a fantastic job. Best meal out we've had in a long time.
Dined in the Wikoff Room. The views were spectacular with our table by the windows overlooking the lake. The wait staff were fantastic. They were knowledgeable on menu and wines. They were not hovering but knew when to be at table which is refreshing. Appetizers were Lobster Bisque which had plenty of pieces of fresh lobster in it and had a wonderful bisque. Also had shrimp cocktail. Shrimp tender and not overcooked. Pleasant horseradish cocktail sauce that had a decent amount of horseradish in it - not too weak but not overpowering. Bread basket had a great variety of choices. Fresh and plenty for the two of us. Main dish Saffron Lobster Tonnarelli with plenty of lobster and the pasta is house made. I snuck a few bites of pasta and you know it’s homemade. Also, Filet of Beef that was done to my perfection. Beef was tender, potatoes light and creamy with vegetables. I was really impressed with the delicate vegetables that were just right and the potato puree that was light as a cloud but you could savor the wonderful taste of potato. The wine selection is wonderful. We had a glass of the Sauvignon Blanc Salt River and Pinot Noir Zorzal Gran Terroir, Mendoza. Dessert was a maple cheesecake which was light and creamy. Not the NY-type which is denser. The Crème Brûlée was crunchy on outside and creamy on the inside. Added fresh fruit was nice. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal and were reflecting on how many restaurants in the upstate NY area would be able to compete with the food and service. Not many so will definitely be back.
