The View Restaurant was absolutely amazing The ambience was very charming. The new years eve menu was extremely well prepared and delicious Our server Caleb was extremely kind We will definitely be back next holiday
Great place for a special dinner! They had cute touches, from our names on the menu to a photo to take home to remember the night. Everything was delicious and service was excellent.

I really wanted to like this place! I went here with my husband for our 5th wedding anniversary. It is trying to be fine dining, but the service and some menu items surely miss the mark. My husband ordered a bottle of champagne to surprise me upon arrival when he made the reservation, and it was no where to be found when we sat. Our server felt rushed every time she came over, and waters and beverages remained empty through an entire course. By the time our second round arrived, our meals were being cleared. Don’t get me wrong, some food items were excellent. The burrata salad, risotto fritters and filet were out of this world. However, the gnocchi was heavy and greasy and gouda custard just meh. For the cost of some of the portions, I expected the food to make me want to come back. Unfortunately, there are plenty of places in Lake Placid where the food is just as good, and service is worlds better, and you won’t have to spend $200 a person for it.

We booked a week in advance for our 40th anniversary dinner while staying at Mirror Lake Inn. We loved breakfast at The View but our anniversary dinner was disappointing. The food was good, the price, quality and quantity what you would expected from a high end resort restaurant. The disappointing part was the atmosphere and attention to our present. They tried to make the evening special by putting our name and 40th Anniversary on our menu, the special evening ended there. We were seated in the center of a room with a loud group table behind us, one row away from a window table, or in a quieter area of the restaurant. The waiter was pleasant and somewhat attentive given he had the large group behind us to deal with. In general, service was ok, the food was ok but definitely not what we expected and felt we were treated better at a restaurant in town the night before our anniversary.
I would definitely recommended staying at Mirror Lake Inn, but would not recommended The View for dinner and especially not a special dinner.

Our server, Shannon, was absolutely fantastic. The food was very good and the wine list was quite extensive. All of the food was of the very highest quality. But, the best was the service. Really appreciated!

Sorry - but just don’t dine here.
You might get lucky and get a good waiter — but honestly we had one of the worst experiences in my life. It’s really unfortunate, because we dined here two years ago and really enjoyed it, but this time was the polar opposite.
Our waiter, Matthew, was really nice. But after taking our order, not once did he come to refill our water, or refill our champagne. All the bottles just sat there on the sill or ice bucket. When the plates were cleared after the first course, the bus person accidentally dropped a knife on my wife’s lap. When Matthew came back with the second course, we had to point out that two of us had no utensils. When he came back with the third course, we had to put an empty bottle that had been sitting on the table for an hour in order for him to realize we would like it taken away. He never checked in to ask if we needed anything, just long weird pauses between seeing, versus the table beside us who had an experienced waiter that continually checked on them along with the manager. I genuinely don’t know where Matthew went, and although he always seemed nice whenever we spotted him, his lack of common sense was just crazy.
And don’t order the gnocchi. 3 of 4 of us did, and no one ate more than 20% of their dish (which again, a waiter with common sense would have noticed.) it was doused in a heavy oil/butter sauce, and then partially fried, and heavy. Not a light and fluffy gnocchi like you might expect from a restaurant that mentions it’s homemade.
I really regret tipping 20% especially on such a large bill. We’ve eaten at so many places in Lake Placid over the years but the experience and cost here was just a total disappointment.

Fantastic place to celebrate a special occasion! The restaurant staff goes above and beyond to facilitate and provide patrons with an outstanding experience. We were greeted at the door with a hot towel. Shown to our table near a window which had beautiful views of Mirror Lake and surrounding mountains. Highly recommend the Chilean Sea Bass! Roughly 100$ a person excluding drinks, but if you're trying to celebrate a special occasion in Lake Placid, this is your spot!

An amazing place for a resort like breakfast. Very nice!
The dinner is very disappointing though. The food is subpar at best. Not kid friendly at all. We got a lot of nasty looks from boomers because my 2 year old speaks loudly.
This place is empty after their left Hyatt.

Amazing dinner! 5 stars all the way! My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner and it truly felt special. Our waitress Kassondra was excellent…it felt like she went out of her way to make our dinner feel special, even concluding the meal with a photo of us. The wine selection was very impressive, no surprise they win awards for it. I had a really nice light red with blueberry and tea leaf flavors from the Finger Lakes Region. The fritter balls and carbonara appetizers were so delicious. The gnocchi was amazing! My husband really liked his braised beef cheek, said it was outstanding. A beautiful evening all around with a great view!

What a lovely meal my wife and I shared at The View restaurant for our 30th anniversary dinner. Every meal was as Michelin worthy. Each course better than the last. Caleb, our server, 7th generation to Lake Placid was so kind, knowledgeable and attentive.

Stacy was our waitress and she was fantastic. The Mojito and Under the Stars (smoked) drink were a great start to the meal. We shared the Gouda Custard salad which was fantastic as a light appetizer. For the second course we had the Risotto Fritters and Bucatini. The fritters were crispy and delicious. The Bucatini was a little plain in flavor and the noodles were a little overcooked. For the third course, we had the Certified Sustainable Chilean Sea Bass and the Ricotta Gnocchi which were both excellent. For dessert we had the Vanilla Creme Brulee and the Lemon Budino (which we good later as we had them to go). Overall a great view of the lake, exceptional service and good food!

Wait staff are friendly but it is difficult understanding the dialect of the host and some servers. The host has the option of seating us in a choice, central location but instead seats us in a less optimal location. We ask for the center location with thebest view and we get repositioned there. Not certain why we were not offered that table in the first place. The primary reason for the low rating is we are disappointed when presented the menu and told that only a 3 course fixed prix meal is available. When the reservation was booked several months ago there was no indication there would be a change from the published menu. Further, the Inn sent multiple e-mail communications regarding our upcoming stay and never mentioned changes to dining options. We give pushback over the fixed prix menu but no alternatives are offered. Considering the restaurant has a 24 hour cancellation policy with a credit card on file, leaving the restaurant at this point isn't a viable option. We are presented a "...basket of hot breads with salted butter..." that is the most uninspired dinner bread I've ever experienced. Slices of soft white and wheat bread that is doughy and tasteless! My wife's meal is served barely above room temperature. Wait staff is inattentive and by the time they become aware we are not happy we are not interested in pursuing a correction.Based on this experience the staff are friendly but difficult to understand and seem to lack good customer service skills. Food is uninspired and there is poor quality control of plating to serve the food hot.

Went here during winter and the food was incredible. I got the chicken and my wife the fish and it might have been the freshest food we’d had all year. Service was friendly and warm and the views of the lake frozen over were stunning.
