I was very disappointed in the food I was served. Shrimp cocktail was four thawed medium sized shrimp on a bed of mixed salad greens and a bowl of cocktail sauce. I've made nicer presentations with what I have around my house.
I also ordered the chicken pesto pizza. The pesto was flavorless and the chicken was just chopped chicken fingers from the kids menu. Crust didn't taste like it was proofed. I ate one small piece.
Others in my party were happy with their meals, I walked away wishing I had gone elsewhere.
Staff and management were professional. Food was bad and, even for Placid, over-priced. We were seated in a space that had a food all over the floor. This place survives on tourists that don't know any better. Do not recommend.
Had a very good Wood Fired pesto chicken pizza and salad and shrimp cocktail. It was all very good. Ask the bartender who was our waiter to make my special drink which he did, and that was very nice. He was extremely attentive unpleasant really enjoyed the service and the food will return
We ordered jalapeno poppers and two hamburgers well done. Very easy order even for a little kid. Well, the jalapeno poppers were still frozen inside and the two hamburgers partially uncooked. We sent the food back and when he brought it back it still was inedible. The windows were dirty and the server looked like he had a skin problem As he was scratching constantly. Very disgusting place. And for this, and a few fat soaked fries, we paid over $100!!!
We sat at the bar and had a blast! The bartender was awesome. It was a great time reading all of the messages on the dollars!
absolutely disgusting food and incredibly rude and dismissive staff. i ordered a filet, medium, and it was raw and fatty. also, a $50 steak and i was scooping (spoiled) sour cream out of a container for my baked potato. no one ever came over to ask how our meal was and when he came to take our plates he didn’t ask how it was, just started clearing plates. the water boy was the only competent person there. they took our credit cards and disappeared for about a half hour. our bill was $115 and i could have gotten a more delicious and better prepared meal for $15. spend your money somewhere else.
Place is a roadside diner is best. Steak is horrible
We arrived and no one greeted us, only patrons told us it would be a wait for a table. So we sat at the bar. No one came to greet us or ask for our order for more than 30 minutes. There were multiple food menus at the bar and then we were told you cannot eat at the bar after waiting 30 minutes. The bartender then argued about their service with customers. Very unprofessional and rude. A disgusting performance of customer services. Would not go here ever due to their terrible customer service.
Food was horrible! I ordered pan seared scallops they were boiled and in some gross gravy. My boyfriend ordered ahi tuna it was weird and cold!
It smells like cleaner sanitize when you enter. And the decor is all over the place.
This is a restaurant that hasn’t been updated in menu or decor in a LONG time. The decor is a very worn out, early 80’s look and very uncohesive at that. Music comes from the ceiling and is fairly loud: Sinatra, etc. The food was expensive. I don’t mind paying $48 for a filet mignon, but I expect it to be tender and flavorful. This looked like a small NY strip (waiter confirmed it was a filet) and was flavorless. All steaks (all cuts at $42 or more) come with just a baked potato. I asked for vegetables and was given the option of broccoli or sautéed veggies. There are no veggies on the menu. The sautéed veggies were over cooked, very oily and all tasted the same. The asparagus was difficult to cut and chew. My husband’s steak was rare (blue) in the middle and barely warm. He asked for medium. All in all, a really pathetic meal. We ate half and decided not to finish. Gratuity was not added to our check even though the menu states it will be. Our server was okay: polite, checked in on us, but seemed like part of him died inside. Couldn’t blame him. This restaurant feels like a place owned by the same owners for a long time who have a captured audience and have stubbornly decided not to change anything for decades. Ugh.

Passing through Lake Placid and tried the Upstairs Grill for dinner and it hit the spot. I had a traditional calzone with prosciutto and it was delish! Family had the Black Angus ribeye, NY strip, and the wood seared scallops and all were pretty good. Beware of the pricey menu but the food was pretty good for this tourist trap.
Fantastic place to eat, the one stars are crazy
Go somewhere else on Lake Placid. My family and I went here for lunch, and the first thing we noticed was the loud country music playing overhead. The loud country music created a slightly annoying ambiance as we sat and waited for our food. The food took awhile, and our patience was growing thin. By the time we got the food, we were too hungry to complain about how mediocre it was. Each meal is about $20, and the kids meals are about $15. I am sure there are much better places to eat on Lake Placid, that have better food and better,
quicker service.
Be wary of the added gratuity. I way over tipped and it was less than mediocre service. But food was great!
Our family had an amazing dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for the evening. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making excellent recommendations.
The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the seafood pasta was incredibly fresh and flavorful.’The ambiance was perfect for a family dinner – cozy, relaxed, and inviting.
We can’t wait to come back again and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience with their family!”
