Not what I expected. The sandwiches are NOTHING like a real NYC hero sandwich. The roll used is nothing like a real Italian bread one might get in an Italian deli in Brooklyn or the Bronx. I threw out the bread and just ate the cutlet. That was ok. not juicy and not covered with real Italian tomato sauce and real melting mozzerella. Went there for the first time ever on 4/20 for the pack a bowl special. I thought the promotion was really clever. I had been wanting to go for a while and I couldn’t pass up a deal like that. The line was long and I was really impressed by how fast it moved. That and I’m sure the staff was stressed but they were all so friendly. Now let’s get to the food.. Went here for lunch on a weekday with two really awesome people. This was my first time going here. I really liked the bowl options. I basically had a Caesar salad bowl but you can customize whatever you want and they had a lot of options to choose from. We ate inside and that area was nice too. Prices were reasonable and the portions were a pretty good size. Overall I was happy with the experience. Would recommend trying it out if you've never been.
