There's a distinct lack of attention. Salt and pepper shakers practically empty. Moldy butter pats on the table. Full wastepaper baskets in the bathroom. Hard scones, even on the inside. Pathways icy and unsalted. Idk what happened. Was one of my favorite places.
I love The Tailored Tea. Great tea options. Delicious scones. I’m always excited for the scones if the week. The staff is amazing. They always have time to chat. Please give them a try! Reservations are recommended as it is a small space. Support local restaurants!
I love the concept of this place and the creativity of the offerings. My wife and I were well impressed by our meals. However, the place could use some updating from the decor to the dish-ware. While we can certainly appreciate that it is a historic building that comes with its own hurdles, the furnishings were dated, the glass tabletop clearly hadn’t been cleaned between tables, and the tea pot and tea cups were chipped and past their prime. There is clearly passion and creativity in the food with a unique menu that is sure to offer you something new, unlike so many places with the same offerings as everywhere else, and we would love to support this business but the cleanliness and dinginess rule it out as a go-to place for us.
I truly cannot believe how filthy this establishment is. This was my first time there and i had been looking forward to it. I will not be returning.
The floors & walls were filthy! Our tablecloth had numerous old stains on it and the teapot warmer I don't think had ever been washed. Crumbs all along the windowsill & just overall needs to be deep cleaned x 100! I am shocked they can remain open to the public.
We came here for afternoon tea and both the waiter and the chef were extremely nice. When I ordered my raspberry truffle tea, the waiter recommended mixing in vanilla decaf (it was delicious!). It was so much food, we had to take the desserts and tea to go. Would absolutely come back again!
We hadn't been to Tailored Tea in quite some time. Walking from the parking lot we were surprised how bad the grounds looked. The grass needed mowing, the flowerbeds were so overgrown and needed weeding. Inside we were seated and after sitting for awhile without our drink order being taken, we wondered how long we should sit there. Finally a waiter came over to take our drink order for which there was another long wait to receive our drinks. Finally our food order was taken. The food was okay not on par with the way it used to be. As I was eating my turkey sandwich, I felt something stuck in one of my teeth. In the ladies room I pulled a small piece of wood out of my tooth. It had been in my sandwich. When I told the waiter and showed him he thought it was no big deal. Thank goodness I did not swallow it. The service was so slow people around us were complaining also. There was only one waiter for the place. He was overwhelmed, forgot items we asked for, and never asked if we would like refills. We have decided from now on we will be patronizing The Whistling Kettle.
I took my daughter here as a mother/daughter back to school date and was expecting a fun, pretty “out to tea” experience. It couldn’t have been farther from that. After looking at photos shared and reviews I expected it to be completely different than it was. I don’t normally leave reviews but I was so surprised and disappointed I hope I can give a heads up to someone else before they try it. The place was very dirty — walls, tables, even the tea pots the tea came in were dirty etc. The table was wobbly and we were sat right next to a big blue dirty dish bin that wasn’t concealed in anywhere way. They were completely out of all decaf fruity flavored tea, which was what we’re looking for — and our server was totally unapologetic about it and didn’t try to come up with any suggestions of what to have instead. The food was not great — my daughter ordered buttermilk pancakes and the consistency was very strange — gummy but dry and also burnt. When I mentioned this our server just shrugged. My eggs had a funky taste as well. Some things weren’t necessarily bad but seemed out of place for a restaurant called The Tailored Tea and not at all what i was hoping for or expecting. We ordered two small glasses of orange juice along with our breakfast and tea and they were served in giant plastic blender cups full of ice. Our server had baggy pants and a baggy tshirt with chain necklaces (I don’t care what someone wears but it seemed out of place at a tea house).
Adorable little hidden gem. Many tea options. The bread pudding and scones are scrumptious! Cannot wait to try lunch or breakfast there. Friendly staff and great service!
We had afternoon tea today! We truly enjoyed the experience. All the teas were so good and the food was wonderful. We totally recommend Tailored Tea!
Great food; the chef and waiter, Jared and Derek, are friendly and charming; and interesting old house with a local story.

Love, love Tailored Tea. Food is reasonable, always delicious and love the gf options. Jared is the best and our waiter was very friendly 🥰
As always whenever we are in Albany we come here. The food and tea choices are fantastic.
This was a birthday present for my daughter. Neither of us has been here before. We love "high Tea " in England so we tried it. We were not disappointed! It was very good! the food was excellent, the atmosphere was pleasant & the chef, waiter, owner was a joy. We will definitely be going back! Highly recommend reservations because it's a small place & he was the only one serving & preparing everything. It was such a pleasant experience.!
I loved this little place - felt like it was a hidden treasure. We were able to sit where we liked - a tea cup and saucer called to me, it was beautiful. I found out I could buy it and so I did, and brought it home. Nice memory. The owner was very friendly and the food was very nice. I went with a friend and we both enjoyed the atmosphere - you can eat outside in nicer weather. Set in an old house, would go back again.
