Was there for an Oktoberfest dinner with family. We got there around 5:30 and live music began playing soon after we sat down.
Food is always good, but when it is crowded, as expected, food takes a little longer to come out. I was happy to order an appetizer and fresh rolls came out , which helped with the delay. In the meantime, service was good, drinks were always filled and we got boxes and the check quickly when asked.
Best of the wurst- a classic. Others ordered German meatballs, saurebrauten, and wurst sandwich. All happy with the order. App was potato pancakes. Could have used 1 minute on a paper towel before going on the plate. Otherwise, no complaints!
Happy to go back :)

Walked in last night so excited to have dinner here as we’ve come a couple times. We walked in and a hostess said “can I help you” and we said yes a table for 2 please and hostess goes “nope we’re fully booked tonight”. We saw chairs open at the bar. She didn’t offer to have us wait a few minutes or check if anything available. The tone was just rude and we walked right out. Very awkward.

You've gotta love The Village Lanterne! It's cozy atmosphere is bolstered thanks to the decor which truly sets the tone in an amazing way. Did I mention the food is exceptional? It's always a treat dining here, and it NEVER disappoints.

This was our first time back since the renovation. The place looks beautiful. It’s cozy and festive. The staff was great. Reuben Eggrolls were good, but the sauerbraten was disappointing. The meat was beautifully tender, but the flavor was a little too bland for sauerbraten. I ordered a side of the spaetzle because they no longer make substitutions, and it was also bland and had a very odd flavor to it. My husband and I don’t eat dumplings but we had to pay extra for our choice of a side order. We were disappointed because we always loved coming for the sauerbraten but it really needs more kick. It wasn’t “sauer” enough. I hope the cook is able to do this because we really love the place.
The Village Lanterne is a pleasant restaurant. We have eaten there several times before. There are not too many German restaurants left on Long Island.

We are here right now for my birthday dinner. It's a Monday night and we had reservations. It's been an hour and they haven't brought our food. They said its a busy night.... we see 6 tables. Totally ruined my birthday. No manager in sight.

Greta selection of food and drinks. Clean restaurant. Fun atmosphere. Quick and friendly service.
If you enjoy a beer, you can drink out of a classic German boot!

Forgot appetizers. Sat our family in near the restrooms despite the place being empty at 5:00 on a Saturday. Expensive drinks. Disappointed.
