The Retreat Reviews
We came in for the Sunday special and were lucky to have Sarah as our server. She was amazing. I have celiacs and she knew just what I could have and made sure my order was perfection. From the soup French Onion to my Turkey dinner! The food was amazing. I could not have the Sauerbraten but that is what my partner ordered. He thought the was amazing and was able to bring home a wonderful piece of raspberry pie. (which I could not eat.). But Sarah checked over all of the dessert options to try and find one for me. The food was amazing. Our service was stellar. And we told Sarah we would be back to see her again. Thank you so much for a lovely meal!

The Retreat is a lively and casual restaurant, especially busy on Thursdays after work. Customers should expect long wait times, sometimes up to 45 minutes, and service may suffer due to waitresses having too many tables. However, the food is frequently described as good, which helps make up for the lengthy waits. Visitors are advised to avoid peak hours for a better experience.
On a recent Sunday afternoon, a group enjoyed a short 5-minute wait for a table for eight. Service was attentive, with the waitress promptly taking drink orders and delivering hot and crispy appetizers like the sampler platter and fried calamari. The main courses, including Buffalo chicken salad and sour braten, were generally well-received, although a couple of sandwiches were a bit cold. Overall, the service was highlighted as a positive part of the visit.
In another visit, a diner found their open steak cold, while their partner's Wisconsin rib eye was cooked just right. The cold steak was refunded, but the diner plans to return. Recently, a guest enjoyed the best Ruben sandwich they had in a long time, although the fries were disappointing. Another group of four found their beef sandwiches and fish dinners delicious, marking it as one of their favorite places. Additionally, a family celebrated a 90th birthday in a private room, where the manager was praised for her assistance, especially with a picky eater. Meals were delivered hot and delicious, making The Retreat a recommended spot for casual meals and celebrations.
Some recent reviews highlight the warm atmosphere and extensive menu. One guest enjoyed salmon cakes with a creamy dill sauce and sirloin tips with noodles that impressed them despite an initial appearance. Another couple had a great experience with warm bread, French Onion soup, and the Imperial Grouper. Their waitress, Sam, received special praise for her personable and efficient service. Although service was noted as slow during busy times, the food received high marks, especially the wraps, and the patio with live music adds to the appeal.
