Been there two time, One time with a party of four and one time with party of three. Depending on what you order, the food ranges from average to very good. So far nothing tasted great compared to other places, but still the food over all is good. The layout works for most occasions. I saw a review about being 3 inchs from another party, i don't know where at is ,but by far, this place has VERY GOOD seating for people--not a tight squeeze at all So it is a nice place to dine, good food and comfortable seating. There is one issue: The service is either too good or too slow. For example, ,both tims that we went. My main hot dish came out before i was half done with my soup I HATE THAT. THEN even though my main course came out while I was not done with my soup, the other people at the table still had not reviewed ANY food yet. This inconsistent service happened both times I went. It seems like they either are rushing you or forgetting you. I will go back there, but i hope they improve this.

Great place. We lived in Long Beach for 3 lovely years until the rent became exorbitant. This was our only sushi hangout. Small, hole in the wall joint but the food...o so sublime. We live 20 miles away now but still go regularly. Rolls are fantastic, their unagi Don is delicious. Everything is great. Highly recommend. Friendly, personal service.

Great food. Sushi is always fresh and well prepared. This place is small and crowded so if you don't like sitting close to other people, better to take out.

Used to be really good. The phone ladies are extremely rude. They lie about how long orders take. They’ll tell you an hour for pick up only for it to be two hours. Go to one of the many nicer, friendlier options in the neighborhood. This place doesn’t care about their customers.

Since sushi and the beach are both very near and dear to my heart, I was so excited to venture to Nagahama Sushi in Long Beach with my boyfriend for Valentine's weekend! It was packed, which I honestly take as a good sign, and the vibe inside the restaurant could be described as 'sitting inside a cozy living room,' and I mean that in the best way possible. This spot has a homey feel with lots of history, and apparently, Nagahama literally means Long Beach in Japanese, which is just so perfect. Okay, so now onto the food! We started out with two Toro sushi pieces, fatty tuna, which was certainly an *exquisite treat.* We then ordered the Incredible Tuna appetizer, and it was, in fact, INCREDIBLE. This app was essentially a crispy spicy tuna tar tar with tuna tataki in a ponzu sauce that I practically wanted to drink by itself, LOL. We also ordered the yakitori appetizer, and the chicken was super flavorful and tender. For our entree, we went with the sushi and sashimi combination platter, and may I just say that the fish was sooooo silky and smooth and sooooo good. The fresh salmon roll we selected for this platter was also such a pleasant surprise -- we never were that over the moon about a salmon roll before, and we've sampled lots of sushi over the years. (Pro-tip: we got a side of spicy mayo and saved the rest of the ponzu sauce to have with the bowl of rice that the platter came with as well!) I adore how close this place is to the ocean, and the sushi is some of the best I've had --- BEST OF BOTH WORLDS indeed.

Very enjoyable sushi spot in a cozy Convenient spot in Long Beach. This resturant had such a cozy feel to it when we walked in. Super friend staff and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our orders came out nice and quick. We started with the gyoza, which had a great crisp to it. Then we split a few rolls. We got the crunchy spicy scallop roll, the no-name roll, and the smoked salmon roll. All very tasty, but the no-name roll was my favorite. The smoked salmon did have a very good smoked taste to it however. I noticed last minute that they had uni so I decided to give that a try. Very interesting, to say the least. Heavy ocean taste with a buttery texture. It's worth a try at least once. This place is worth a swing in if you're looking for some nice sushi.Parking: Free lot in the center if the street.

A no frills type Japanese restaurant. Sashimi was fresh. Glad I waited around on the boardwalk while waiting for the place to open. Although I would have preferred my shrimp tempura not to be in the udon when served, that always seems like a restaurant choice. Sashimi deluxe was great. All the fish seems fresh, although the amount of artificial crab pieces seems too high. Dishes were bussed quickly and often. Would visit again.Parking: Public lot and street parking.
