From the moment we walked in, R40 delivered a true five-star experience. Warm greeting, intimate atmosphere, and a room that feels thoughtfully put together without trying too hard.
Service was excellent. David our server was attentive and precise, and the general manager stopping by our table was a great touch. The pacing felt natural and unforced.
The food was outstanding. The skirt steak was perfectly cooked with clean, intentional plating, and the red snapper was bright, crisp, and well balanced. This kitchen clearly understands restraint, proportion, and timing. The cocktails were equally dialed in and thoughtfully executed.
Everything worked together seamlessly. Food, service, and atmosphere all aligned. R40 is doing something special, and I’ll definitely be back.

We arrived 5 minutes prior to reservation but waited around 20 to 30 minutes until our table was ready. Service was amazing, the wait time can't be blamed on the staff as those who occupied the table we were waiting for seemed to just be sitting there sipping water. The food was amazing overall and staff was very friendly. Totally would recommend the wings and rosemary fries!

Whatever you do please do not waste your money at this restaurant. Number 1 all of the food is extremely overpriced considering the quality of it is not great. You could walk a 5 minutes to the boardwalk and get a much better steak at American brass for a much cheaper price. The food overall was decent, but I just kept telling myself I can’t believe that it’s the price that it is. Number 2, the service was EXTREMELYYY SLOWW. I can not begin to tell you how long it took for our food and drinks to come. Although this is normally just a kitchen issue with being slow, the servers also contributed to the slowness of bringing out our things. We would ask for drink, and it would take the waiters 10-15 minutes to bring them or they had completely forgot. The servers acted pleasant and seemed nice when speaking to us, but it all seemed just a little fake when considering the actual service was terrible. Lastly, we went to this restaurant for a family members birthday, and although this isn’t necessarily something they did wrong, it’s just something I don’t appreciate. We asked for our bill and the waiter asked us if we wanted any dessert for the birthday person, we were unsure if we wanted any sweets at that time but the way that the waiter asked us made us feel pressured into getting something, so when the bill came it was quite a shock when we realized the dessert was still on the menu, and they had charged us for an item we had not received(thankfully we checked the receipt and saw this issue and pointed it out). Overall Vernon boulevard is filled with beautiful restaurant that serve much more fulfilling food than this one. The restaurant just seemed fake and I honestly regret coming here and wasting the almost 500 dollars that I spent. We still tipped after everything but these are times when I hate tipping culture, when you are faced with service like this at a restaurant that is supposed to be fine dining but isn’t. Also I think it’s very telling when a restaurant doesn’t offer a free dessert when it’s someone’s birthday, i know that there is no obligation to do so but it’s just a principle thing, it’s an act of kindness which this restaurant does not have. Anyways, I had high expectations definitely fell short. Would never come here again.

We had an amazing dinner at R40 LIC! Everything we ordered — the Arroz Negro, Arugula Pesto Gnocchi, and the 10 oz Prime Black Angus Skirt Steak — was absolutely delicious. Every dish was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The service was just as wonderful — everyone was so friendly, and our server (the tall gentleman) was especially kind and attentive. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in Long Island City!
My first time here, everything was just perfect. I wanted a nice date with my boyfriend and the lights, the jazz live music and the food made everything just perfect. Shout out to Allison, our server, for so friendly and delicate service. She dame sure that we had our food as we wanted and at the time we wanted. My favorite dish was the crab empanada, it was different from what I’m used to but that empanada just hits different. The atmosphere was calm and nice. Remember that the live music is only Wednesday. Great experience, we will definitely come back.

Great space in LIC. The fries were my favorite part, so good I had to order two orders. The meat plate was very generous with their portions, we could barely finish it among four of us. Would recommend the empanada basket to try all the different options. Every thing was very authentic Argentinian. The only downside was that service was a little slow, but when they would come by, the staff was super friendly.
