the 5-star rating is for the huge sourdough bolle that is sold quartered at Balducci's in Scarsdale and Greenwich. Sadly, they started thin-slicing the loaves which ruins it for me. Then they started carrying another brand of sourdough that I threw out. I can't speak for any other products Tomcat makes because I wouldn't know where to buy them in Westchester County. Too bad the bakery doesn't put their own name on the label..I had to corner a couple of people...
This is a Huge commercial bakery, Not open to the public. They supply numerous businesses with a large variety of breads and rolls etc. The production areas are nearly spotless and sanitary conditions are a top priority there. They take up a whole city block, and if safety and sanitary conditions didn't prohibit it - could probably do a nice side business of Bakery tours.
Tom Cat Bakery has the most delicious brioche hot dog and hamburger buns. It elevates your barbecue food and an added benefit is that is made with no chemicals or preservatives of any kind. The breads are baked daily and it is the best bread in New York.
