I wanted to see if the hype was worth it.
I really liked their matcha with persimmon!
It was just right amount of sweetness and strong matcha flavor!
It’s a bit expensive but I understand since they use matcha from Kyoto!

I came here on November 15 in the afternoon. I heard about Verse from a food influencer on instagram talking about persimmon matcha and me who loves to try new drinks and food came just to try this persimmon matcha! Unfortunately the place was packed and doesn’t have anymore seats available, so I ordered my drink to go and enjoyed it in my car.
I’m not really a matcha person, nor have I drank enough matcha to tell if it’s good or bad, but I think this persimmon matcha is alright. The hint of sweetness comes from the persimmon and cinnamon itself. The only complaint I have is the straw, the straw is too thin that when I try to drink, the persimmon chunks get stuck and I can’t drink anything. I have to keep blowing the persimmons back out the straw, which is very annoying.

Very mild matcha flavor.

Below average matcha. Got the earl grey lavender matcha. The matcha flavor is mild but you can tell it’s low quality. They don’t give you a sipping lid. There are plenty of workers but the line moves very slow.

both the matcha and coffee here was average to be honest, nothing out of the ordinary. we got vanilla oat latte and that was too sweet. both drinks could be better.
Edit: still great coffee, and it still has one of the best food offerings in the neighborhood.
Sadly, it’s very hard to get a table on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. My suggestion would be a “no laptop usage” policy on these days to allow for more customers to sit down and enjoy their amazing food.

Don’t understand the hype personally. Took 10 minute for my drink and the staff was not friendly. Not worth the hype for long waits, price and service

As much as I wanted to love this local cafe, I had some mixed feelings about it. The drinks and the food are wonderful and the staff is really nice. I went in on a Friday morning and I imagine they were probably just understaffed and overwhelmed with the customer volume. I had to wait 20 minutes for a strawberry matcha latte and egg Sando to come out. If you’re in a rush, I don’t recommend stopping by as a “grab and go” option. But if you’ve got some time and want to come for the vibes, this is a great choice. I plan on coming back on another day that’s less busy to give it another fair shot because it was really high potential.

My favorite spot for matcha — truly the best in town! The flavor is perfectly balanced and smooth every time. Also love their cheddar apple scone, it’s amazing! Cozy vibe and always great quality.

Delicious drinks and snacks. You have to try the caramel kouign amann warmed up! The food they have on the weekends is all amazing, too. Beautiful space.

My first Astoria coffee shop, vibe is cute & calm. Enough tables and seating for customers. They offer small bites. Coffee was great.

Beautiful cafe and chill vibes. Interesting and delicious drinks. Drinks and food served on actual dishware which is a treat of an experience. The bar seating is cool. Folks working behind the counter are very nice.

Verse is a very charming and warm coffee/matcha shop on a somewhat lonely strip of Astoria Blvd. Service is friendly, matcha is good and they actually have great coffee too! WiFi is spotty. Their loyalty reward card is a bonus that keeps me coming back.
