The food is amazing and if I decide to go back itās solely for the food. The staff is rude and the service was terrible. Itās the worse service I received in a long time, which is such a shame because the food is so good! And then they have the audacity to add 20% tip to the bill.

I just discovered this place, the food is amazing, tastes very good. The restaurant is clean and organized. Unfortunately the staff takes away some of the experience. The first time I went the waitress was mad. The second time had no waitress and it took 13 minutes after the open time to allow us to seat down and order (in the machine). This restaurant has a big potential.

The one star is because of the shady practice during payment. I went up to pay after dining in, and they jumped the iPad screen straight to the total (which should have striked me as odd but I thought nothing of it), then the tip screen immediately (which starts at 18% btw instead of the 15% you usually see). Sure, clicked that. I take the receipt and go and see that they stacked on a 20% service charge. I've heard stories about the owner not giving tips to the workers and mistreating customers as well but I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. Well the doubt is confirmed. Ask for a paper receipt BEFORE you pay.
If I could put no stars, I would do it. This restaurant used to be more than great. After the Venezuelan waitress left / got fired, the whole system collapsed. The food is still very good, but the owner keeps yelling at the employees which affects their way of working and we end up with a scandalous service.
Update: look how the owner responded. Pathetic !!!!

Me and my family and friends remember when this place first opened in Steinway and enjoyed our meals it became one of our favorite spots but recently once the new management took over i think the younger kid with curly hair the new manager the disrespectful attitude shown to us and the way he puts his staff down talking down to everyone I didn't like that at all he talks down to older people acting like a big shot I won't be going there any longer the older couple that used to run the store were so polite and nice people and managed the store much better then this new kid it's a shame because we enjoyed sitting and eating there but no more they lost mine and my family business keep talking disrespectful and eventually you will get checked and lose loyal customers with that service

The food was good but not good enough to make up for the bad service. 7 of us ordered 1 chicken shawarma platter and 1 beef shawarma sandwich along with 2 lemonades and the bill totaled to a little over $70. They charged us an extra $8 sharing fee for each platter that was shared. ($16 extra dollars!!) On top of this, the man who was taking our order was rushing us even though there was relatively nobody in the restaurant. The person at the cashier was on the phone as she was ringing us up which led her to take some time to give us our change back (while we just stood thereā¦). Donāt recommend.

Went in to get food with a group of 7, we ordered enough food for 2 people and got charged $32 more than the original amount just because we shared the food. Service was also bad, giving us a bad attitude. The overall cost of the food was $70. Which is insane. We were really disappointed and angry. Definitely donāt come, this is a scam.
