Started out sat on the deck just the two of us, it was beautiful by the river! Service and food were top notch. I don't know how we have missed this place as long as we have been here!

Location and atmosphere are amazing. Tunes outside were nice. Beer was great.
Service was good, waitress came back to the table several times, but always seemed in a rush.

Sweet potato fries where great

Maple bacon burger.... was cooked ok, good size/thickness....but, was lacking bacon.... had a half a slither.
Over all good experience

My friends and I had dinner here. We enjoyed our drinks and the food was great. There is a limited menu but what we all had, it was good. We ate outside and the view was awesome.

A fun, historic building just off the Grasse river in downtown Massena! The beer selection was excellent and the food was incredible. The service was fantastic and the place was packed! I had the smoked pork burnt ends Mac and cheese and it was a have again!!

Went to the Mother’s Day lunch buffet for $40 a person and had super high hopes since our friends recommended them and the food and service was just bad…

Service:
We arrived and the hostess asked us high-top or regular table. We picked high top, which turned out to be uncomfortable for my shorter partner. We asked to be switched to a table, which was an option only minutes earlier, and they were unable to accommodate that.

Food:
The food was just bad…. We’ve been to turning stone which has a $45 buffet which was amazing, Indian buffet in Potsdam for $14 is great, damn even Mongolian buffet for $20 is wayyy better. This food at this place was just soggy and flavorless. Basic stuff like chicken tenders, some shrimp, waffles, and that was pretty much it 🤣 like please put some effort into your buffet if you are going to charge that much.

My husband and I have been here a few times, and loved service from Julie. Today was most disappointing due to very poor service and a streamlined menu. There aren't many nice restaurants in our area (Malone to Massena), so we were excited to find Gristmill last year. Unfortunately the menu has changed quite a bit and service was terrible today. We sat at the bar and the bartender gave us menus and said she'd be back in a minute without asking if we wanted drinks - even water. We watched her make several drinks for tables seated before us (understandable), served them and began to take orders. There was a group event that a 2nd server was attending to before they headed to the event space, but she never even looked our way. We waited 15 minutes before leaving. Maybe the menu changes throughout the summer season, but they were also out of a few menu items. It's really unfortunate, but we won't return.

What a breath of fresh air for Massena. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. Much of the old grist mill is still in tact and proudly displayed around the restored building. Our hostess and wait staff were polite, prompt and professional. Davina tended to the needs of the wide age range in our party. The river views really set this apart from other restaurants.

The Sunday pasta special was delightful. Everything tasted great and portions were plenty, leaving enough to bring home for the late night trip to the refrigerator. The family style delivery of our three pasta dishes was a nice touch and brought us back to the our roots. The dessert menu offered a few savory options. Our party decided the limoncello cheese case was the winner over the equally delicious 11 layer chocolate case and carrot cake.

I scouted it out the evening prior and had the Duck Bacon Wonton appetizer. It did not disappoint. They were delicious by themselves and even better served with a sweet red-chili dipping sauce. Mmmmm. Good stuff.

This is a must visit if you live in or near Massena. If you're just passing through, it is an easy stop.

We didn't have any food tonight. Just some fabulous cocktails. The strawberry lemon drops were amazing.

Waiting for food is a bit but very good. Chardonnay is terrible. Should get a better wine to suit the restaurant
