Island Empanada of Merrick

I have been ordering for a long time, always good empanadas. But whoever was managing tonight messed up my order and the empanadas were not fresh, meat felt like rubber. Had to throw away half of them.

The empanadas would be good if they were consistent. I never know what flavor I’m biting into. Chicken and cheese was overly sweet today…. not a fan.

Very good empanadas. I had the Spicy Beef and Sweet Plantain, and also the Traditional Beef and both were very good. Between, the two, I prefer the Beef and Plantain because it was a little spicy and also had a bit of sweetness. I will come back and try their other flavored empanadas.

Just got a my mind and tastebuds blown after devouring one of their chipotle beef and sweet plantain empanada ! Regretting not ordering more. Would have gave them 5 star but they forgot the sauces in my delivery order .

Everybody there is super nice with a destak to the Brazilian girl that is so lovely and patient . It's a shame that I don't remember her name now. Food is great price is right

Has to be by far one of my most disappointing meals. For $4 an empanada I was totally let down. They are so tiny and filled with mostly air. I really don’t think I’ll be going back there. Not really sure how they have stayed in business there. Especially considering the merrick standards. I’m sure they won’t be there for much longer. Better meal would have been a carvel Sunday ……. Less $ and more filling

I am writing a review now from an experience I had here yesterday afternoon. It was my first time visiting this restaurant and I was very happy to see that they had a few vegan options for me!

I ordered the rice and beans, veggie lover empanada, and fried plantains. It was all very delicious and filling!

The service, atmosphere, and food were great! Highly recommend checking this place out! 😊

Was served a partially frozen sofrito ball (potato ball) . When sent back the guy exclaimed "oh it was in the cooking a while well put it in the frier a bit longer" empanadas sit in baskets like bagels in a bakery. Wasn't thrilled, even the sofrito ball was under flavored, I could make this at home and so much
