This is so close to me and i will never return. For 16 dollars i ordered a cucumber mint refresher. They told me the black particles floating in my drink were Mint. My partner ordered a 30 dollar martini flight which was served in plastic and absolutely not drinkable. The food was not good. The fig chicken was covered in fig sauce over a measly piece of burnt chicken. I asked for my burger medium, which was brought out well done beyond belief. Fries soggy. Just an overall bad experience. I see why this place has switched hands so many times. The only positive, were the servers were very nice
We haven't been here in a while....very happy we decided to go back! Everything was very good. We had Calamari with chipotle, mayo, hangar steak, veal voldastano & the pork chop special. Ever easy cooked perfectly and the meat was so tender. Brought leftovers home for lunches the next day..

My only complaint (& reason for a four star rating, instead of five stars) was the ambiance and noise level. The ambiance is what it is. However, the noise level was high which was surprising given it wasn't that crowded. That being said we were given the table (for 5) right as you walked in, in the bar. I was shocked that it was more of a bar scene than restaurant as I had googled “brunch”. (As it was our family's tradition for a Palm Sunday brunch, I was embarrassed that it was more of a bar scene than a restaurant.) Perhaps it should be listed - or mentioned in the description - as a gastro-pub. As we were leaving, a family with two small children entered and I could tell by their reaction it was not what they expected either - to have lunch in a bar with their two small children.

Off the Brook is the best place on earth. It is my Regal Beagle The food is way to good for a neighborhood watering hole The menu is well conceived and absurdly good The staff is warm, friendly, and happy to see you. If you go to OTB and you don't like it, there's something wrong with you.

Met up with old friends and chose Off The Brook because we heard nice things and it was centrally located. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. We shared zucchini chip, burrata pizza, goat cheese and beet salad and eggplant meatballs. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive.
The service and food were outstanding, also loved the ambiance and vibe. There was live acoustic music that wasn't too loud. Also loved how you could order your app and still take time to look at the menu to decide on your dinner - we did not feel rushed.

We went for Sunday Brunch and the ingredients are all here, but execution is missing. 1. The loud techno music on a Sunday morning is a bit much, maybe change that to a softer jazzier vibe. 2. The coffee is terrible; weak somewhat tasteless. so bad in fact, that I saw the staff go across the street for their own coffees. Sunday brunch has to have good coffee and it should keep flowing. 3. it's freezing, they have a space heater pointed on the bar, so they clearly know something is amiss, need the landlord to understand that nobody wants to eat Sunday brunch wearing our winter coats, hats and gloves. 4. The recipes are excellent, the kitchen knows what they are doing and the food was very tasty... but ... if you burn the bun for the egg sandwich - DON'T serve a blackened charred piece of coal. Toast it again and this time, don't burn it. 5. at these prices ($20/entree) the butter should be something a little more than just some non descript cheap tasteless version.Vegetarian options: No vegan options

Off the Brook Bistro totally blew me away! The vibe is so cozy, and the staff makes you feel right at home. The menu? Oh, it's like a foodie's dream come true. Every dish we had was so savory, and you can tell they put real love into the ingredients. Seriously, if you're in Merrick and haven't been here, you're missing out big time. Off the Brook Bistro is a gem that's worth the visit!
First time here and we had a great experience!The servers were super friendly, funny and attentive and the food and drinks were amazing! My friend and I shared a martini flight and the Proper Old Fashioned...I didn't realize how much I like bourbon lol. We started off with the the truffle hummus and pasta flight and it was absolutely delicious and the presentation was on point. For dinner we had the chicken Romano and spiced seared salmon and we practically had to be rolled out of there LOL! We cant wait to come back to try the rest of the menu! We'll be back for the gelato flight and cannoli that our waiter Anthony couldn't stop talking about.

I can not recommend this restaurant. I never write reviews. But because of the terrible sewage stench at the end of our meal I must warn people. The smell was outside of the restaurant as well as we walked out. Completely turned off. First and last time. Food was not good. Waitress was very nice. Enough said.
