This place is a complete health hazard and should be avoided at all costs. I watched a man behind the counter scooping ice cream with his bare hands and NO gloves. That alone is disgusting enough to walk out immediately.
Then came the cake situation, which somehow managed to be even worse. I tried to return a cake, and instead of handling it professionally, they took it into the back where I couldn’t see what they were doing. When it came back, it was EATEN FROM. Yes — THE STAFF ATE FROM IT. After that, they actually had the audacity to tell me “there’s nothing wrong with it” and expected me to TAKE IT BACK HOME AFTER THEY ATE FROM IT. That is not just unprofessional — that is straight-up unsanitary and disturbing.
To top it all off, the woman working there was rude, dismissive, and clearly didn’t care at all. No apology. No accountability. No attempt to fix the situation. Just attitude.
This is the kind of place that makes you question how it’s even allowed to operate. Zero standards. Zero professionalism. Zero concern for customer safety. I will never come back, and I seriously warn others to stay far away.
Went to this location with my grandson and despite their hours posted till 8:30pm, they are kicking up at 7:45pm. Disappointing
Disappointing. Paid 50.00 for a cake for my husband's birthday. When all our guest cut into it. There were ice crystals in it. Not the normal creamy ice cream.
When we got it, the case next to the one we picked it from was broken. Evidently our cake was originally in the broken freezer and moved to the other after being partially defrosted. Terrible thing, after calls to the store we were told manager wasn't in. Never got anyone else to respond to our calls. POOR BUSINESS. If I want Carvel. I'll drive to the Florida NY store or go to Rita's.
Showed up at 8:40 PM — a full 20 minutes before closing — and the lights were still on as I pulled up. As soon as they saw me at the door, they proceeded to turn them off right in my face. Knocked on the door, and the staff just stared at me like I was invisible. No “sorry, we’re closed,” no explanation, nothing. Just plain rude.
This is the second time I’ve dealt with this nonsense here. The people working at this location clearly don’t care about customers or about representing the Carvel name. I grew up loving Carvel, but this store has completely lost the warmth and friendliness it used to have. Shame on whoever’s running it now — you’ve ruined what should be a happy place.

Preordered and paid for an ice-cream cake a week in advance. When my daughter arrived to pick it up, it wasn’t ready and the employee couldn’t time the ticket. He then picked one out of the case, which was the wrong color. It was slightly freezer burned. Took an additional 20 minutes for a message to be written… poorly. Then he tried to make my daughter pay for it. She left. By the way, it was the same employee who took the order and then failed today.

Used to love going here but the last 2 times ice creams was very small and staff is rude . I asked for a soft serve sample girl gave me a hard serve sample. I ordered a twist with cookie crunch and the girl asked me 4 times in 3 mins what I wanted. A man claiming to be owner told me to not be hostile because I asked what was so hard about a twist with cookie crunch. 2 med ice cream with sprinkles was over $20 . I aksed why service is so horrible as I never had issues and the Indian man said he was owner and I needed to leave. Dont spend your money here as they don't like Americans. I guess for $9 ice creams I'll be going back to sweet frog mon $6 ice cream and 100s of toppings for $6. And they have over 20 flavors and now carry van , cho, twist
I love Carvel. Have been a customer for many years.
However, location in Middletown, NY is the worst.
There is an employee named Fadi, He is wonderful very polite and deserves recognition. He was more than wonderful, we need more people like FADI!! My family and I will be returning!

So i got a cake from carvel in middletown cut it after dinner and the cake was frostbetten call the store the works are rude the first one hung up on me the second on said they is nothing they can do there cakes are made fresh so you pay 30 for a cake and its no good watch what you buy from there it almost as bad as buying it in the grocery store there must be another place to buy icecream cakes in middletown i will never spend my money there again very customer service
I’m so upset !!!! I am a daily customer literally daily I can’t even take my family of five anymore because the prices are insane me and my daughter just came in ordered two smalls and paid 13$ how !!! Then charging 89 cent per topping and being cheap on the serving is insane very disappointing sad to say I’m done here the new owner will be the down fall to carvel I also voiced my opinion to this man and he had nothing to say I’m loyal to carvel and have been for the passed 3/4 years three times a week or better very sad I miss the old owners

I bought a sheet cake from Carvel. It was $50.59. The icing was paper thin and so was the layer of crunchies. The piping had a strange flavor.
This week I bought a Carvel cake from Shoprite. Same exact size, same cake $35.99. The icing was super thick and the crunch layer was thicker and the cake was fresher.
I would give one star but the staff is always friendly and store is clean. But way overpriced. Will just buy my carvel cakes from the grocery store from now on.

This rating is not about the service, it was excellent, but the pricing is way too high and the amount is too little. I use to love going there and getting my money's worth, now I rather ship for ice cream at a supermarket. Times are already tough but I won't pay for unaffordable products, such a shame.
