Decided to give this place a try today even though it was 30 minutes away. The food was definitely average Chinese food especially for the area. The General Tao’s chicken was ok but depending on one’s preference it may be crispier than other places. The following dishes were also average, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Plain Lo Mien, Pork egg rolls, Pork Fried Dumplings and White Rice. The food definitely messed with my stomach and I will not visit this establishment in the future.

Check the amount before you pay. I have caught them overcharging and when I question it the price goes to what it’s supposed to be. Horrible that they would scam their customers. I’m very disappointed!

This business has changed hands and it's no longer great takeout.Food costs have gone up so it's reasonable to have increases in menu prices. But their prices are not on par with other Chinese takeouts in the area. Especially because the quality went down a lot and the taste is not just ok.The previous owners were great with their customer service, but now it's about what you'd expect from a Chinese takeout. I've not had any problems directly but have only seen them respond to customer issues with either skepticism or outright belligerence. Especially over low cost items.Time to find another spot.

In looking for some "decent" Chinese food in Middletown, we found China Star. It's a little more of a drive for us but, definitely worth the extra 10 minutes. We ordered combo platters of chicken and broccoli and pepper steak with onion. Both were very good. The egg rolls are crispy and not overly greasy. Hubby also ordered bbq beef sticks which he enjoyed. The gentleman behind the counter was pleasant, service was quick. There is no place to eat in, it's pretty much take out only. The only area I'd say could use improvement is the entree and fried rice are a little disproportional - they're very heavy handed on the rice side. Other than that, the food was prepared well, tasty and again, definitely worth the additional 10 minute drive for us. This has been the best Chinese food we've had in Middletown.

Horrific...forced to spend more ..it was $10 minimum now it's 12 and charged me 3 dollars for soda ..nope not doing this place any more!!! Spend the time go to GO-GO in dunning plaza or Asian 211 bistro if u can way better food then this shack hack !

You can not longer eat their food anymore. Me and my family spent thousands here. The previous owners cooked the food sooooo much better then they do now. These people rice taste like pure garbage. It was so bad my 7 years old daughter got sick and threw up. The shrimp was bland, no flavor. And the chicken wings had no taste. China star is a thing of the past i would honestly get food from the buffet before giving china star a thought. Save your money and get a ramen noodles you will enjoy that more. Stop robbing people with classless tasting food yall should be a shame smh!!!!

I've had more good food from here than bad. Most times I buy something to snack on because the food is smelling up my car and I can't wait until I get home.
Chicken w broccoli and boneless spare ribs were good . Usually spare ribs are cut into strips but these were almost like mini pork chops. They were tender and the sauce on them was really good. I definitely recommend .

Ordered 2 shrimp rolls and they were draining in grease. The little bag that they came into couldn't hold up that it starts draining into the main bag, had to throw them away. Then the chicken wings had an odd taste and fries were burnt..
