Neighborhood family owned restaurants are often serve the best dishes and Kaiyo is no exception. Great Japanese food and generous portions at very decent price. It's small modest and quant but we'll worth the visit !

Came for lunch with colleagues during work. We jumped in so fast couldn't take a pick. We were seated quickly and the serve was polite. She was the only one working so service was moderate but not bad. We all had ne of lunch specials. The sushi was fresh and tasty very filling. I would go again.

The food is delicious and service was very quick. Spring rolls and shrimp dumplings were fried to perfection and the speciality sushi rolls were huge and actually filled with fish rather than just vegetables. There was so much lobster in the roll! We will definitely be back!

Sushi Kaiyo is such a hidden gem. I wish I had found it earlier! It is my new go to sushi place -- like I need it on a weekly basis. The fish is fresh and the sashimi is cut thick. My faves were the salmon belly and fatty tuna -- melt in your mouth delicious! Definitely recommend checking it out when you get that sushi craving.

Came here with my husband and ordered a variety of rolls. All were great. In our opinion it’s the best sushi in the area Mineola/Garden City/New Hyde Park area but is a little pricey, especially considering the vibe and feel of the restaurant.

Phenom sushi in the Mineola area. Always the same folk staffing tables. Space is small so get there early to snag a table. They do a ton of take out- door is constantly opening and closing (prepare for cold burst of air in winter). Love their sushi- fresh and generous portions, and we usually get a noodle entree too. We tried the crispy rice and it was good but very filling- cost me stomach space that was reserved for sushi! Would 100% recommend and we have already been a bunch!

I taught both of the children of the owners. The parents have graciously gifted me sushi from their restaurant many times while I taught their children but I finally had the chance to go to the restaurant with my fiancé! This is an amazing family owned business. The food is incredibly fresh and everything I've ever had from there has been delicious! It's a quaint place with only about 6-8 tables! You can watch the owner making the sushi as you wait their oldest child serves the guests and takes care of the phones and packaging take-out orders. Their younger child helps to clean the tables, seat guests, and brings them water. We had dumplings, their yellowtail appetizer, crispy rice with spicy tuna appetizer, my fiancé got beef udon noodles and I got 2 delicious rolls that came beautifully presented on a boat. We also had matcha cheesecake for dessert, everything was amazing. I tell anyone in/near the area to try sushi Kaiyo!!!!! You won't be disappointed!

The food is very good and a spot my family goes regularly. The restaurant itself is rather cluttered but I think the food makes it worth it to go.

I absolutely LOVE, SUSHI KAIYO! Not only do they have the BEST sushi on LONG ISLAND (I've tried all the big names) but truly this family owned business is why I come back each and every week. I am a consistent regular at sushi KAIYO for the last 2-3 years. They have the freshest sushi nigiri I've ever tasted at an unbeatable price. I usually order the sushi deluxe which comes with 10 sushi nigiri (omakase style - which is always an amazing selection) and a delicious fresh tuna roll and a soup! My personal favorite is their mushroom soup which has an amazing umami flavor. Some must try rolls are the genji roll, shiro roll, and tiger roll. I love their seared rolls! Our favorites are also the Salmon Bento Box Dinner which brings shumai, California roll, soup, salad and tempura appetizer. Also, their spicy rolls have big chunks of fresh fish so you will not get disappointed unlike other places that serve tempura filled spicy rolls. The online ordering system is great and has never failed. It is always ready at the time I've selected. This is a small yet MIGHTY restaurant. It feels homey and authentic like a great restaurant should feel! You will love the food and will fall in love with the family!

Ordered the A La cart sushi and it was good quality. Fish tasted fresh. It took a while to prepare but that wasn't too big an issue. They had uni and sweet shrimp which not every restaurant has
