Last week, while visiting the greater upstate New York region, I finally had the pleasure of dining out at the famed Fireside of Monsey. I have been hearing about Fireside for three years now, but since I am rarely in Monsey, I never had the opportunity. First off, I must say that Fireside is really nice. I love the lighting and decor. There is a party room upstairs for events and even a side room, almost like a second restaurant with a full bar, hanging light etc. I was impressed. I have been following their new chef Uri Elbaum for quite sometime, so I knew I was in for a really unique meal. We started off with the Duck Ramen, their world renowned Bang Bang chicken, Steak Milanese and the Miami Spare Ribs. I have always been a soup/ramen fan. Especially now in the winter season. This Duck Ramen was insanely good. The duck finished cooking in the soup, the broth so rich flavorful, with the scallions, ramen, egg etc. It was the perfect bowlful and one I highly recommend. The Bang Bang Chicken was so crunchy and sweet, I loved the crispy rice croutons and the salad underneath. The chicken itself is not served hot but more room temperature so it doesn’t clash with the salad but enhances it. Now, the Steak Milanes was incredible. I never had a flattened and panko crusted deep fried filet mignon served with a sunny side up egg on top and truffle fries on bottom. It was so tender and soft and the silkiness of the egg yolk perfectly salted. It was the best bite I had in a really long time. The Miami Spare Ribs were served hanging and they were quite sweet and sticky and delicious at that. The were served with some homemade potato chips and a garlic aioli. Truthfully, we were so full at this point we could have ended the meal. We also had some amazing drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I had the Blueberry Bliss with alcohol while my wife had the Local Paradise which is passionfruit and guava. Both were really refreshing and delicious. I thought we were done but then the chef sent out Dino Ribs, perfectly smoked ribs finished with some sea salt, served with buttery mashed potatoes, grilled corn and some amazing condiments. The ribs were fall off the bone goodness and smokey. While we started getting ready to leave we noticed the staff bringing out some dessert. It seems they found out it was our anniversary. Both my wife and I got individual desserts with sparklers. I got the Chocolate Marshmallow Lava cake (my favorite) while my wife got the Chocolate Mousse. It was the perfect end to the perfect meal. The ambiance, staff and chef were amazing. We will definitely be back soon!

We went on a mission for the meat board with nine adult male fatherly amicable gentleman. Side-by-side, we entered the restaurant, nothing but the board on our minds. The annex appetizer board, the meat board, and the dessert board. Three boards, nine men, and a night set for destiny.
The triple board night was amazing, delicious, and fulfilled every carnivorous craving that one could ask to fill.
It was a night that will go down in the history books .

Delicious food. Best kosher place to dine out in the area.
My husband and I went the day after we got married to celebrate and it was a great experience. We didn't tell the staff - but they were kind and welcoming regardless. Wait staff was amazing and answered all questions and made great recommendations. Steaks were cooked perfectly and portions were very generous - had leftovers and didn't orders apps.
Pretty busy when we went. In the future, I'd make a reservation, especially when coming with a large party.

Fireside is at somewhat of a unique disadvantage due to its location within a shopping mall. Their main area does a great job making you feel like you're in a regular Manhattan restaurant with the dark interior and cozy feel. However their overflow room feels a bit too industrial and cavernous for my taste and gets loud fast.
The food is rarely disappointing. We had the black label burger, lamb hummus, and chicken Caesar salad. Everything tasted great, but unfortunately none of the food came out hot except the French fries, it was all lukewarm at best.
The staff was great and attentive, but even though I put in my reservation request that this was our anniversary none of the staff mentioned it during our visit. Overall dinner was good and we'll go back.

This was our special occasion spot since Fireside opened. From the atmosphere, to the service and the great food, Fireside is where we send all our friends and family to. We went for my birthday on a Thursday night with the dining room less than half full, and this was the exact opposite experience. The food quality has gone down, and the service was a joke. The pizza was still fine for the appetizer (although it’s been better), but the steak was tasteless, dry and unappealing. The Au Jus the provided was basically just a pool of fat and added nothing to the steak’s flavor. Fireside used to use hand cut French fries, but I received a heaping portion of frozen fries to go with the steak. My wife’s portion of ribs were mostly bone, and her onion rings she said tasted off. I tried to contact Fireside to resolve, but no response from them.
We then tried to get dessert for my wife and I for my birthday. We were handed dessert menus and 25 minutes later nobody would take our order. The restaurant that Thursday night was half empty and the servers were laughing and joking with each other. The chef was even out there instead of in the kitchen just speaking and hanging out with the front of house. We tried multiple times to flag down someone, but to no avail. I then got up and went to the front to pay as we were there over two hours for slow and mediocre service, was left an apology and left. Unless we see drastic improvements to the new chef’s quality of food and the service, there’s no way we could ever come back. It’s sad as for almost 10 years, Fireside was our spot. I’ve been there since the beginning. Quality and care have gone down.
