We used to come all the time to the former restaurant at this location and came this year just after Labor Day. WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. It was lunchtime and we should have wondered why there was only one table of folks eating. There were 6 of us and we were seated and given menu's then we waited quite awhile for the waiter to come back and we placed a drink order. Three beers, a coffee, a soda and a wine were ordered the waiter kept repeating the the order to us like he needed to memorize it and then we waited & waited. The menu is pretty skimpy just 5 entree's and while waiting for the drinks we ordered 3 fish taco's & 3 cheeseburgers. About 40 minutes in we got most of the drinks no coffee that took even longer. There were no customers at the bar, there was a bartender who was talking with a waitress who had her back to the nearly empty restaurant. We waited and waited for the food and were one minute from getting up when it finally arrived, The taco's were terrible one piece of shrimp per taco with lettuce, not kidding just one. The cheeseburgers were hamburgers and by that time we were so hungry we just ate them, no waiter in site. We had to get up and ask for salt and ketchup from the waitress up at the bar and were given just salt not S&P. We noticed that none of the tables had salt or pepper on them. When we told the waiter we did not get cheeseburgers when he came by with the bill he said that is what we ordered, but they don't have plain hamburgers in the 5 item menu entrees only cheeseburgers!. The prices are not cheap, burger was about $22 and the service is terrible . To add insult to injury one of the chairs was broken and only narrowly avoided collapsing to the floor.( I bet it is still there)

Great spot! Went for lunch and split the fries with my hubby. I had the baja tacos with shrimp and hubs had the burger. Everything was delish! Will definitely be back for more mojitos.

We were the only table Terrible service - not a clue - waitress kept retreating to sit at the bar with her back turned to the tables to flirt with the bartender - totally ignoring her job No salt and pepper on the tables? No lemon for iced tea? The food was ok but the $18 salad is just a bowl of plain leaves straight out of a bag with a carrot shred! Just because your rent is high don't take it out on customers It takes more than a cloth napkin to charge these prices Saltbox - more like S**tbox!

Where do I start? Went for lunch and they were able to muster the energy to fulfill 6 or our 9 orders yet found a way to try to charge full price. We were there for lunch on a Monday before the rush but we're told "poor timing" when we asked for an update on the missing orders. They did not actively try to accommodate any act of forgiveness - even held us to the 20% tip.. why not 66% of the mandatory tip since they didn't hold up their end of the transaction. Note, I don't ask for much, but fairness and the ability to deliver on a promise to serve lunch isn't much to ask. Great atmosphere. So much potential with no follow through.

I'm giving this 1 star because the manager was nice. My girlfriends and I came in on a Saturday during lunch time and we found out the kitchen had some gas issues so couldn't cook till 5pm. So fine we waited and they were nice enough to give us chips. The drinks didn't come till 30 minutes later from our waitress and the place had 4 other tables. Wasn't busy. Why she took forever to bring simple drinks (no cocktails) is beyond me but whatever. I'm still forgiving at that point. Then after an hour she came and took our order. At this point we were annoyed and hungry. I order the fish and chips and my girlfriends ordered the fish tacos. And another one ordered calamari. So this blonde waitress is pretty d**** Typical d*** blonde. She told us there wasn't anymore fish. So the fish tacos couldn't be ordered. So they give my girlfriends shrimp. The tacos were absolutely embarrassing. It was literally shrimp and lettuce. Nothing else you'd typically get with fish tacos. Then the fish and chips we got really infuriated me. The fish wasn't the typical cod. The waitress on Saturday 6/23 forgot to tell it what it was. So we didn't even really know what we are. The fish or so they say was very stringy. We could have been eating dogs or cats for all we know. But the point was she didn't tell us. Then for the "chips" - omg don't get me started on that disaster. it was literally chips like from a a bag of lays!!!!! And the icing on the cake was the calamari didn't even look like calamari! It looked like mini skinny tender strips and instead of batter it used graham crackers. This restaurant is just STUPID! The waitress was stupid. The service was horrible. I don't complain ALOT but if you're serving like fake fish and chips and charging us $27.00 then you're scamming people so shame on you. Oh and when my girlfriend ordered more tartar sauce the waitress didn't say she would charge an extra 3 dollars. The ingredients that they used isn't good quality but charging good quality prices. Oh and I just realized. The fish that was used for was skate. Which isn't fish! The calamari had bad quality as well. Was probably skate. This is a friggin seafood restaurant. It's the headline in their restaurants. Overall everything was horrible. I left HANGRY afterwards. IF YOU PLAN ON COMING HERE. DONT. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. So shame on you for being dishonest about your food, not training waitresses very well or hiring horrible waitresses who don't know best practices, and shame on you for skimming your customers.

So good everything wings, humus, fish tacos, sliders, etc. Nice bar type environment ... chill and low key. The only thing I'd change is the loud club music EDM. Food is phenomenal! Great atmosphere!

Headed out to MTK for the weekend and came across this place while driving around for a late lunch/dinner. The restaurant is just off the main road in town. For appetizers, we got the hummus platter and truffle fries. The hummus came with a selection of tomato, celery sticks, olives and pitas. The hummus was a little grainy, I wish it was a bit more smooth in texture. The olive oil helped to make it more fluid. The truffle fries were crispy and came with a chipotle dipping sauce. The sauce had a little kick to it, but it was tasty. For dinner, I got the chicken sandwich. The grilled chicken came with coleslaw and I asked for the chipotle dipping sauce to dip my sandwich in. It also came with fries which were crispy. Overall the prices weren't too bad and it was a cute restaurant.

My wife and I went here for food and good music, and the only good thing was the music! Food was overpriced, small portions, and the female bartender from Ireland was horrible. She has no professional conduct, complained to other staff, and didnt even ask us how our food was, did we want refills, NOTHING! The manager was at least apologetic , but lets see if the owners do anything about it. Never going back to Saltbox

Came here for the festival, early afternoon on Fri 5/19. George was my bartender-- he was hospitable, friendly, sweet, all around wonderful. Also met Dan and Lauren! Everyone is great! Food, drinks, service, all highly recommended! This place just came under new management around April 2018. It's been great so far.

One of the few places in Montauk that me and my wife actually enjoyed everything. Amazing right? We came on a rainy Saturday for lunch and a drink and the great thing for them is, they were the only place open at 4PM (most places here close until 5PM apparently) so we came inside, sat at the bar. Our bartender Jorge was really nice and complemented us on our ¨style¨. Flattery will get you everywhere with me young man! I ordered a whiskey cocktail that was on the menu this time (safe over sorry) that had orange and bitters and all yummy thing that I really like, and it was REALLY GOOD! like a really tasty drink. I ordered another one right after finishing it. My wife got the bloody mary, and decided to "Make it FAT," which apparently means it comes with a lobster roll and bacon and grilled shrimp. It´s basically an entire meal attached to a bloody mary, or at least it´s supposed to be. Turns out the chef made "a bit more food than we thought" so it came out on a plate instead of attached to the glass. No matter, it´s much easier to eat this way anyway. For food I got the blackened chicken sandwich which comes with their house cut fries, which are VERY good fries. The sandwich was good too. I threw some of my wife´s hot sauce on there for good measure. She really liked her lobster roll, but REALLY enjoyed her shrimp. She said she had been missing that grill flavor and these shrimp along with my chicken from my sandwich were decidedly ´a la plancha´ if you will. So they were good. She really liked her drink too, so she got another one as well. In fact, because she had a wait a bit for her drink (For it to come out with her food) and I ordered a drink as well that came out rather quickly, the bartender just gave her a bloody mary and say "when your food comes out I have more so I can just refill you. it´s fine." What a nice guy! The ambiance of the place is nice: it´s not a big space but it has a nice vibe to it. I´m seeing from other reviews that there is live music here sometimes. Maybe it was too early in the season for that. If and when we go back to Montauk, we´re definitely stopping by here. It´s good.

Awful. Blackened fish tacos weren't even seasoned. Litterally just white chunks of fish, but didn't want to complain. Ordered 3 shots of Avion tequila that all had multiple fruit flies. They opened new bottle and replaced. We then got lumped over the head with the bill....$16 per shot!! And they were served in disposable shot glasses. Manager didn't seem to care. I'm assuming the locals stay away.
