Sadly, I didn’t have the 5 star experience everyone else did. Went in for dinner and ordered the beets, corn chowder, smashed burger, and chicken pot pie. The beets were quite tangy — a bit too sour, though still good enough to finish. The corn chowder was the highlight, rich and flavorful. The burger was just OK, but some of the thicker fries needed a bit more time to cook through. The ultimate letdown was the chicken pot pie. This unfortunately missed the mark because the taste of rosemary overpowered everything. I like rosemary but this was way too much. Also, some of veggies were undercooked. Hopefully this was just an off night.
Amazing food, atmosphere, super friendly and kind staff and an wonderful owner. I've been there as a performer and a fan and had great experiences on both sides of the stage. The lodge is beautiful and perfectly set up with all you'll need if you stay over. Can't recommend it all enough. Best bathroom in upstate NY.
Food is completely mediocre
Didn't stay there. Three of us had dinner. Was really excellent. We had the panzanella salad with a beautiful pesto dressing, a steak with chimichurri sauce and a veggie burger. All lovely dishes set in a beautiful setting among the pines and mountains. Had a key lime pie for dessert that was a perfect ending to a wonderful dinner. 4.5 out of 5!
We dined at the restaurant at the pines and had a great experience. The food was fresh and ready so quick, the drink were delicious and the waiter was an absolute delight. Big fan!
Never disappoints!
Sought out "The Pines" to catch our favorite local band, "Freek's Garage" and grab some dinner. The place is charming, the music was great, but dinner plans were a bust. An hour wait for a table, an hour hold on kitchen orders. One of the servers was doing his best to maintain some sense of order--there was no hostess. We put our name on a list and were asked to check-in, periodically. This we did--but apparently no tables vacated in the 1 1/2 hours we waited. Others who arrived after us were seated--I guess it's a case of "who you know". The bartender was very sweet and received a nice tip. Interesting spot--tho'The I'd recommend getting there early if you plan on eating.
The Pines is a gem, the beating heart of our community here in the Catskills. It has the nostalgic charm of a summer camp dining lodge, but with elevated meals like gourmet shepherd's pie, steak frites, radicchio salad, an AMAZING falafel plate, etc. The food is satisfying, nourishing, and feels prepared with love, and the staff is always warm, upbeat, and fun. What sets The Pines apart, though, and I carry long after you leave, is the unforgettable atmosphere. This place radiates the warmth and camaraderie of living in the Catskills.
Chef von salad offered a German menu. It was outstanding.
Wonderful food and service -- and thank you to Jeremiah for recommending the chocolate cream pie for dessert.
Restaurantji Recommends
One of those places that has the right vibe—all good tables, the BEST food (smash burger, fries and bingo sauce, tahini carrots, Mediterranean salad, falafel, all of it), perfect drinks menu, really really kind and attentive service. It’s just a solid place.
The restaurant was delish! Love the art too. My bf and I went after a long hike and our meal really hit the spot :)
We’ve ordered take out from here a few times and I can’t say enough good things! Food is always ready on time, the service is friendly, and everything we’ve had is great. Their burger is one of the best I’ve ever had!
Wednesday nights are fun. Great vibe and live music. The drinks and food always on point.
The double smash burger is to die for!
