“Ate here three times when I stayed at the Emerson it's nice because you can walk to it. It's a nice atmosphere cozy ...food can be delicious to wedding buffet food, but it's never bad...service is good people are friendly, nice bar. Considering there is not a whole lot in that area it's actually a very nice restaurant can accommodate large groups easily and especially during ski season when you don't want to be driving around all hours of the night it's really convenient. After dinner there's a fire pit between there and the Emerson which is really cool.”
“Excellent Apres Ski joint! If you don't want to be waiting for a table or spot at the bar leave the mtn a little before the lifts close bc this is the place to be.Excellent staff! Excellent food! And of course excellent beer! (You should try the Bailey's Hot chocolate though! )”
“I went to Phoenicia Diner when road tripping with friends from Ithaca, NY to Craryville, NY/Catskills, NY. This diner is a bit out of the way but overall would definitely recommend trying it. We ordered the Farmers' Skillet which was nothing special. I thought the vegetables could have been more seasoned and the dish could have had more flavor. It wasn't bad but at times I thought the potatoes and onions could feel a bit oily/greasy. I also thought the zucchini and squash got a bit mushy under the egg. But PLEASE do yourself a favor (!!!!) and order their Buttermilk Pancakes. These are legitimately the best pancakes I have ever had in my life. The pancakes are perfectly fluffy, thick, and sweet. When paired with a pad of salty butter, local maple syrup, and fruit... it's literally a perfect bite. I can't even explain why these pancakes are so good. You will just have to trust me on this one. Also be prepared to wait, this diner is very popular and on smaller/medium-sized. The interior was so cute and felt very "small town" and "upstate." I would come back. Just for the pancakes.”
“I used to live right down the road in West Shokan. Every once in a while I would go down and have a drink or two and talk to Chet, the owner & bartender (then). It was a great experience set out by itself in the Cat Skills of New York. I can even begin to tell you how beautiful it is. Tell 'em Kerry sent you.”
“WOW! I feel like this pizza spot was transplanted from Brooklyn! Everything we ordered was stellar. The grandma pizza is one of the best I had, exploding with flavor Garlic knots are soft and chewy in the middle. Onteora hot hero with grilled chicken, mozzarella, pesto, pepper with perfectly toasted bread. Loaded waffle fries crispy. I'm shocked this amazing eatery is located in such a remote area. HIGHLY recommend!”
“We usually stop at Maeves in the morning for some of their delicious pastries on our way to Kingston. Today we went for lunch with visiting family members. It was delicious. The fries are the best I've ever had. Everyone totally enjoyed their selections from a BLT to a short rib sandwich, crispy chicken and cauliflower wrap. Can't wait to go back and try other options. I highly recommend Maeves.”
“Beautiful inside. Heard history of the building and met the owner and cook very nice man. Excellent service. Great food! Wish we lived closer. Would definitely be our regular hangout if we didn't live 3.5 hours away. We will be back whenever we can be.”
“Great spot with a relaxed pub vibe. Attentive bartender. We're so happy food is being served again and it's delicious! Burger, falafel, wings were all very good. Live acoustic Celtic music every Monday night. You'll be happy here:)”
“We needed an ice cream cake for our daughter's birthday, and we were coming from NYC. Nancy's was accommodating, allowing me to pick up the cake even though they were closed. They arranged a time for me to pick it up once we arrived at Woodstock.”
“Delightful, clean and prompt service. Friendly staff. The food was fresh and vibrant with flavor. Steak Fajitas and the Jalepeno Rollanos and the Presidente Margarita. Everything was served hot and flavorful. Then the view, wow! The interior was beautiful, well decorated and clean.”
“We took a wrong turn and found this little gem in the woods that has the most amazing pumpkin pies I have ever tasted! It's so fluffy and melts in your mouth with notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, a sweet strawberry in the middle and not too sugary jusssst right! He says he has more of a variety but since we came late that's all that was left!! I ain't never ate a pumpkin pie in one sitting.”
“My wife and I loved an affordable, comfy, and clean place to stay while we skied at Belleayre. Coffee in the AM was great and were total coffee snobs! We used to frequent this area several years ago and a few things have since closed down, meaning you’ll need to drive over to Arkville for general supplies. Most places nearby seemed to open around 8am and close on the earlier side. Although we visited during the week and saw that they would make you breakfast on the weekend.Expect traditional Catskills lodging. We’ve eaten at the tavern in the past and it was great. Didn’t make it on our last visit.”
“Remains one of our favorites. Generous portions and great quality food at prices that don't insult you. You cannot beat the magical scenic location. Love this place!!!”
“We has a large thin crust pizza , and a pecan salad ! Absolutely outrageous, the pizza was better then we have ever had ! Peacan salad was fantastic, oh and not to mention the service is impeccable.”
“I’ve been to Brio’s a number of times over the past 20 plus years after skiing or kayaking the Esopus. There are two sides to Brio’s. One side has the pizza ovens and views of both deserts and pizzas to see before ordering. This side is great for families with children while the other side is a bar and has tables with a more relaxed feeling. The food is the same but the atmosphere is very different. We shared a pizza and a house made veggie burger. Both were good. The pizza is a thin crust pie. The Veggie burger was large on a Brioche roll and served with fries. We made a mistake sitting on the pizza side instead of the bar side.Brio’s is a good place for a quick meal or to take out a pizza. This area doesn’t have many other good places to eat and Brio’s has been here for over 50 years and hasn’t changed in decades. They have parking in the back if you don’t find parking on the street.Parking: Both street parking and Brio's has their own parking lot.Kid-friendliness: A good place for children”
“I've seen their stalks at a few farmers markets in the city so I was really excited to stop by their actual location. The exterior and interior were so aesthetic - rusty modern is how I'd describe it. I got a few things to try here and everything was delicious. I particularly liked my cardamom bun - I'll look forward to stopping by again next time!”
“Best meat lovers around. 10/10 spot. Worth the stop. And not overpriced like the other pizza spots jumping up. These girls know what they are doing!Unfortunately they don’t have coors light, but it’s okay.”
“Great roast pork egg foo young and whenever I need a quick pick me up, I get the fried shrimp appetizer .... and since they're open till 11 pm ....when the whole town closes up at 8 pm. They're the only restaurant open for 25 miles.Btw: their prices are great. It's a taste of old world, Cantonese, NYC takeout food which doesn't even exist in NYC anymore.”
“Visited while on weekend getaway with wife. Atmosphere was great, service was also very good and friendly. I ordered the tomahawk steak cooked rare, it care with broccoli rabe and potatoes. It was one of best steaks I have ever eaten! Drinks were also great and waitress was super friendly. We had a great time and will be back when in area again!”
“Lovely chefs and staff. Super yummy steamed pork buns and anything with fried tofu. Veggies are always fresh and cooked well. The jasmine tea is a nice bev order while waiting for takeout. Personally, I’m into the decor as a no-nonsense eatery because it is about the food :)”
“Great menu and ambiance while it lasted. The coffee was brewed right from local roasters, and baked good deserving of more recognition. Service was decent but may have been the challenge of a new place. Will be missed but memories live on.”
“Funny, the first thing I thought of before writing this was how nervous I was about getting back to our hotel in Athens b/c I had NO service/no GPS in this woodsy enclave. But it all turned out OK once we started driving away from one of the best nights we'd had in a long time. First of all: take the "no reservations" policy seriously. Get there early if it's suitable for you. It also means that once you grab a table, it's not yours for the night. Fair enough and true to hospitable form the staff will find a spot for you & take care of you (we ended up sharing a table with a super nice local couple, and we had so much to talk about before & after the music). We went there to see Don Byron (!!!) with an exceptional band. 5 feet in front of me and no phones, just people listening & absorbing, not phone filming. A nice change from the stadium concerts of the summer. Burger was excellent; yes, the waiter was correct in suggesting the double. Fries could have been more crunchy but that's a minor quibble. Good drinks & beer selection. Super charming spot, wonder what it's like in the Lodge? may have to come back to find out.”
