“The food and service are the best in Woodstock - tasty locally sourced food, great service, and an excellent atmosphere. The bar is also great - with top-quality drinks and friendly bartenders. Can't think of anything that could be improved. 100% recommend.”
“We're hanging out at the dive bar down the road and the bartender there recommended we come here for some good drinks. And my oh my were they good. I never believed in the science of mixology or that a mixologist was a skilled tradesmen. But the old man who made our drinks must have been the Gordon Ramsey of Bartending. Your average bartender is a frycook by comparison. I had a few of their signature cocktails as well as a Manhatten and an old fashioned; my go-to drink so I've had a lot of them from a lot of different places, and never in my decades of life have I tasted such a perfectly mixed old fashioned. It was sublime and I doubt I'll taste its equal again in this lifetime unless I find myself in Kingston again and this man happens to be behind the bar once more. He also whipped up some scratch-made eggnog with alcohol and it was exquisite.”
“Want a great wine list (without an hour-long wait for a seat)? Come here. Want a yummy little snack with your wine? Even better! I wouldn't call Sonder a hidden gem, but perhaps an undersung highlight of Kingston in general and midtown in particular.”
“This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. They know what they're doing and what they're talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is pretty good, some Japanese & sushi classics and some twists, and for their prices it's 100% worth it.”
“Was super excited to find an all-vegan restaurant, especially in this region! Everything on the menu sounded great but decided on lentil loaf with mashed potatoes and gravy plus peppercorn crusted tofu with polenta and green beans. Both entrees also came with sautéed kale. Additionally got tiramisu for dessert! Overall wasn't blown away and a little pricey in my opinion but wholeheartedly support this fully vegan establishment. Most items are also gluten-free and are clearly labeled.”
“The food was good but they really need some more space. It is too tight to be able to go in and have a place to enjoy the excellent coffee and tea they serve with their donuts.”
“This is the best meatball sandwich I’ve ever had! The combination of amazing meatballs and the most delicious marinara sauce. Really great service too- patient and efficient.”
“Had the chopped salad with chicken breast, and my friend had the seafood risotto. Both are delicious. Thank you chef. Staff was pleasant and on point. Will visit again when I'm in the area.”
“This place has a classic American tavern feel. There is bar seating and table seating. There are a couple of sections (a big back section which is where our group of 11 was seated). Food was delicious and they had a couple of options - bar snacks, appetizers, salads/soup, mains. The price of main entrees run from $20-$30. Service was also great.”
“Excellent service, best Caribbean in the area. Taking away one star, because there have been a Couple of times where the Oxtail has been really fatty pieces. Maybe some like it that way, but not ideal for me.”
“Good music, great people, awesome service, delicious food. From the garlic fries, to the homemade hot sauce on the buffalo wings, to the fantastic service from Angelica. Wonderful visit to the colony”
“Best bookstore in Kingston! I'm not a coffee drinker but I do love their hot chocolate. I order the same thing every time I stop by ( Small hot chocolate and a cookie) .This place is super cozy with an awesome selection of books. If you can find a seat on a less busy day your in luck! It's a chill place to meet up with friends or get some work done. Staff is always friendly and helpful. If your new to Kingston definitely check it out it's one of a kind.”
“Love my experience every single time I come to we got the juice. Atmosphere is always top notch! Sandwiches are delicious and juices are the best! Please stop in and get yourself a juice or sandwich for lunch you won't be disappointed!”
“Laid back atmosphere with good music and a good selection of brews. I went on $5 draft Monday and that is a great value. Got the Kaaterskill IPA and the red IPA (can't remember the name), sampled the Juniper Ridge and ended up leaving with a 4 pack of it. Many restaurants within walking distance as well so you don't have to go far to get a good meal after your visit”
“We just stopped there for the first time and it was an awesome experience! Fast and friendly service on this hot July day! The Banana Oreo ice cream is a new favorite for me,and everyone in my family enjoyed their orders. Will definitely be back!”
“really good restaurant in an area where these are a few and far between. The chef balances, creativity, seasonality, and good straightforward, cooking to create a range of compelling menu items, so much so that it is hard to pick. There is a large and inviting hearth in the kitchen, so we try to choose dishes that were fire kissed. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, and the drinks list has everything you need including a lot of well selected and clean Wines.”
“I should not have chosen a pasta dish - it is clearly not there forté.I'll be back to try sonething else.Parking: Prepare to spend some quality time in your car as you search for parking.”
“We were traveling through on New Year’s Day and looking for coffee. Found this great place open. Warm inviting and what we all need in my opinion. It was a welcome treat to find books on the very topics that had been circling my mind for the last few months right there on the shelves. No judgment just information to help you stay on track and want more. Thank you for opening a place like this. And in such a beautiful spot for discovery. Happy 2024 and keep it up!”
“This place is great and I can't recommend it enough. Not only is the quality of food amazing but the staff and service have always been extremely friendly, welcoming with a non-pretentious attitude. This place is accesible for local Kingston residents, unlike some of the gentrification cafes that have popped up in recent years that cater strictly to tourists or recent, wealthy transplants. The prices here are actually fair- like it doesn't cost $12 for a breakfast sandwich with no meat on it- fair. Very clean and like I said, high quality taste in food. I always get a breakfast sandwich but their lunch options are great too. There is no better place to get a breakfast sandwich in Kingston. I love Fat Cat !”
“We came for a Valentine's evening out on the 15th, much calmer than the 14th! The grilled oyster, scallop, squid, and crispy rice appetizer was tasty. We shared the 5 spice Duck Breast, with cucumber, pear, hoisin sauce and Asian pancake, (the combination of flavors in this dish was outstanding) and Vietnamese grilled Lamb with pickled daikon and carrots. The lamb was cooked perfectly but the pickled veg was jarring against the Thai seasoning of the lamb. Might just get Duck x2 next time :). It was a suddenly snowy evening so we passed on the libations for safety reasons. Overall a wonderful celebration in a beautiful space!Dietary restrictions: The server proactively asked if we had any restrictions or allergies!”
“Being lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive Sweet Marisa’s is a gift from heaven. Marvelous choices warm environment and friendly staff. Put on your “must visit” listen when in Kingston N.Y.”
“Fab food and classic elegant designed dining room! LOVE the history of the local brick indistry!! The food is always exceptional and happy hour is best in Ulster County!! Super staff with friendly smiles!”
“This Cafe is a hidden gem! The decor is amazing and inviting, the food is delicious and the staff is so welcoming and attentive. The BEST latte I have had in the area.”
“Stopped in here on a Wednesday around 12:30PM when I was just passing by the city. There was only one other couple in the restaurant eating when I got inside. It seems like they have a lot of interesting options but I just went for a double scoop protein bowl of tuna. It was kind of expensive for what you got out of it but it tasted fresh and the pineapple miso sauce was really good! The workers were extremely nice and it was overall a good experience!”

“Great service, nice environment. Couple different seating areas. Food and drinks are amazing.Parking: Parking depends on time of day you go. During day it's paid street parking. Evening time parking is free street and the use of county parking lot located directly across street.Kid-friendliness: Yes very kid friendly environment”
“I was really surprised how good this place was for a French Restaurant in Kingston. I ordered the Lamb Shank and my friend ordered the Branzino.. The Shank was superb. I also got the french onion soup. Very very delicious. If you are in the Rhinebeck/Kingston area, I highly recommend you try this place. Your belly will not be dissapointed.”
“The baked goods are amazing but consistently sold out of cardamom buns and cinnamon rolls….? Also no ability to heat sausage rolls and ham and cheese. The croissants are unmatched! Paris has competition. Seems like they are growing because they are delicious but be prepared to wait.”
“Delicious, different Mexican options. So many more I want to try! Lots for vegetarians. Great guac! Music could be a little less loud, but love the high ceilings. Generous portions and amazing tortillas!Vegetarian options: Eggplant with black beans and pickled onions torta is phenomenal and surprising!”
“We just a wonderful dinner at the Reservoire Inn. The mussels were outstanding. Soaked the bread in the both till gone. Shrimp fradiavlo over linguini equally delicious. The service made everything even better. Thank you Karen!”
