This place is some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. The pasta is delicious - I had the bolognese and clams, and the risotto was delish. The fish and meat entrees are also well prepared and satisfying. It is a rustic and cozy eatery ?Dietary restrictions: Great for gf pasta

Recommended dishes: Duck Breast, Pappardelle Bolognese, Grilled Octopus, Whipped Ricotta, Roasted Beets and Buffalo Mozzarella

Spent a romantic getaway weekend in New Paltz with my boyfriend. This was our night one dinner so our energy and hopes were high! After reading the great reviews us two foodies were excited. And I hate to say we were well…underwhelmed. The drinks were fine but I’m here for the food. We got the salumi platter to start which had such small portions and our server never cared to share what was even on our plate (nor did the menu). So we were just there eating mystery meats and pâtés. It was … fine. For entrees, my partner got the ribeye in what was supposed to be a mushroom au jus. Well, we were again surprised when the steak came out with literally three measly mushrooms. The temperature was cooked just right but it was still disappointing.I got the pappardelle bolognese. The noodles, while cooked well, were cut so wide it was challenging to eat. Also, the fire time on our dishes was clearly off because while his steak came out popping hot. My pasta had come to room temp and the sauce was slightly stiff. Not rich and creamy. Flavors were good - but again kinda underwhelming. The redeeming part of the meal was dessert. The salted caramel affogato and the dark chocolate sorbet were both divine. We’d give it 3.5 stars. Perhaps we’re spoiled in North NJ with incredible Italian, but I can think of pizzerias near me that served better.

Nice interior but the food takes forever even tho it was not busy, also the food tastes so bland. Especially for the price the food is just not good. Every dish I had just felt like random ingredients mixed in. Don’t understand how this place is 4.5

Hate to say this and leave a bad review but despite the great service and cozy atmosphere I will never eat here again. Food takes forever. We were told they were booked for the night and we had to sit in the bar but after two hours all the tables remained open… The food is horrible. Cold (not even warm, cold). Flavorless. Generic. How do you mess up bread? The house bread is definitely frozen and thawed. How is bread still dry when it’s covered in ricotta cheese? Pickled vegetables are 100% from a jar. Skip them. Steak was awful. The rest of the food was undercooked but the potatoes were over cooked and hard all the way through? Could go on…. Couldn’t wait to get out of the there. Skip this one…..Update 11:30 pm (3 hours later)Wife got the pasta with clams… can’t stop vomiting…

So my partner and I came here on a Monday because alot of our usual places were closed. We realized that we knew the owner from when he was a server at the bistro in Newpaltz. Well I must say that he has created a lovely Italian restaurant. The appetizers were delicious and the main course was fantastic. The desserts were amazing and made in house and the salted caramel gelato was “to die for”. The service at this place should be a standard for all fine dining establishments, it was a level of service that you don’t see much anymore in the restaurant industry. Keep doing what you are doing guys because you nailed it.

Excellent food and one of the friendliest staff’s you’ll ever find. Will definitely be back if we travel back to New Paltz again!

We have dined here many times. Returned because of great menu, service and atmosphere. Menu this time did not offer much variety. We picked mussels in white wine, crabmeat shell pasta, branzini filet and pasta with meat sauce. Service was first class. It was a bit too hot at the corner we were sitting and artichokes with branzini were though, couldn't bite them. Mussels were delicious.

Friendly restaurant, excellent service, delicious food. They offer small plates & regular size entrees. Excellent variety, good homemade desserts though very small portion for the price. Would definitely come back!!

I almost always write positive reviews so I’ll start with a positive. The atmosphere is really nice and I appreciate that they installed acoustic panels to keep the noise level down.We went last night for a small celebration. It took over an hour after ordering to get our meals. The orrichiette dish was simple and nothing was bad about it, but not interesting at all.It was hard to tell any crab was in the crab pasta dish and hard to tell the squid was in the risotto. Fish and chicken both seemed overcooked. When at almost an hour waiting for entrees we nicely inquired about them, the staff seemed more annoyed than apologetic. We had great food at great prices all weekend elsewhere in New Paltz. This was by far the most expensive and the least delicious.

We've been going to A Tavola for years but didn't get there a lot during the pandemic. Tonight reminded me why we love it- a great kale caesar and the branzino was fantastically cooked- not overdone. Raw oysters were a great addition to the specials. Yum!

The service was warm, the vibe casual, the food top-notch. Started off with fresh shucked oysters, followed by kale caesar and creamy pasta with jumbo lump crab meat, peas and grilled zucchini. Artisanal cocktails and well selected wines from all over Italy. Can’t wait to return…

Our food was delicious, the service was excellent, I would visit again. My adult children and I visited for my birthday, was a joyous occasion.

I loved it here. Greeted by a warm host. Lovely wait staff. Sourdough: Home made sourdough bread to die for. 10/10 Beet with buratta: Good but not great buratta. Beet would have been better carmelized, but a personal prefeeence. 7/10Orecchiette: Seasonal veggies included asparagus, perfectly crisp, perfectly emulsified sauce. Could use a little lemon. 9/10Black garlic gelato: stunning symphony of flavors. If it wasn't a bit icey, it would be perfect. 9/10Overall meal. 9/10. Would come back

Solid pasta options and friendly service. The pappardelle bolognese is great! Generous portions.
