Food was good, they were out of the créme brûlée so we went with the churo sundae which was delicious. Keep in mind when using a debit or credit card they add 3.99% on top of your total bill.Edit: 12/30/23- went went to dinner for the last time before they closed permanently. Food/drinks was still good

Good schnitzel. Loved the pierogis. Would prefer the pulled pork less BBQy. Slow service. Out of apple cider, so couldn't make the first drink on the drink menu. Constant loud banging - maybe pounding the veal? Annoying.

I just sat at the bar with my wife and mother-in-law for over 20 minutes with no service while staff was congregating at the end of the bar. Sad to have to leave.

Great pub we make a habit of going to when we're upstate - Schatz is my mom's maiden name but also the food is great. Good drink selection too, large outdoor and indoor sections. They do things with saurbraten that blow my grandma's german-american head off!

Vegetarian options: Black bean burger, which is rare in this climate. were chill with getting gravy on the side and open about if it contained meat

Staff was slow. Had reservations and had to wait until we said something to someone to be seated as multiple employees kept walking by. Soda was warm and flat. Our to go order came out before our food. Just over all a slow and disappointing experience.

Waited for an hour for just the appetizer to get to our table. Food was good, but if they are planning on continuing to stay around, they need to up their service and time. Ridiculous.

Consistently bad service on more than one occasion.We love the food here and it’s the only reason we return. After today not sure we will be back. We time and time again get bad service and wait over an hour for food with empty glasses. On two occasions the male server has handed my male partner the tab assuming he would be the one to pay and then act surprised when I as the female pay…. Very odd just drop the tab on the table why make a scene?Today it was a slow afternoon and I asked to open a tab and get a drink…. Had to ask again for the drink 20 minutes later because it wasn’t put in…. Not the end of the world but they also never opened the tab and just held onto my card behind the bar and did not give it back even when the tables tab was closed…. OddWe ordered 3 of the same drinks and the server acted like we had forgotten to order the third one when they only brought 2 the 3 drinks to the table.We waited about 35 minutes for pretzels, bratwurst and 2 soups to come out at an off-peak time it was clear our order was forgotten about before sending the order to the kitchen. As the folks next to us got their food before us and ordered 15 minutes after us.This is the second time we have dined in and had our orders forgotten about. We typically only come if we have enough time to wait for a good hour or so for food.I want to come back but not if the service is this consistently awful.

I never expected that I will get food so badly prepared. First we waited almost 45 minutes for our order and nobody even checked on us Also restaurant was basically empty..Second, when food finally arrived it was total disappointment..schnitzel was so overcooked and burned and I complained to waitress she said that they short in the kitchen and cook is stressed..instead to offer us apologies and not charge for it we were basically brushed off..I've been in German restaurant before and never was disappointed..this is disgrace ,I left restaurant hungry

We ate outside with our friends and their dog. We had a great time. Flavor of the food was incredible and unique and delicious cocktails. Highly recommend the shareables with a group.

The Reuben at the Poughkeepsie Schatzi’s is to die for. Thick marbled rye, tons of corned beef, slathered in kraut, and one sandwich is good for two (small) meals. That’s what I’d expect for a $20 Reuben.Unfortunately though, you’ll have to travel to Poughkeepsie to get that sandwich (and I recommend it if you’re a fellow Reuben lover). The New Paltz Schatzi’s Reuben is a sad, sad comparison.We were on our way back from a hike and decided to order Reubens from the New Paltz Schatzi’s to-go. Mistake! The bread was thin, grocery-store quality, stale, and there was barely anything on the sandwich where I felt like I was just eating hard bread. I’ve had better Reubens at gas stations & diners, for $10-$15. But we spent $50 for two, with tax and tip.Such a bummer! I recommend they get the recipe from Poughkeepsie and do a major upgrade. At least the german potato salad was still good.
